Limousin cross heifers from JA Peters and Son, West Bog, secured both the cattle champion and reserve honours at Lawrie and Symington's Christmas show and sale of 54 prime cattle, 14 OTM’s and 798 prime and cast sheep, at Forfar.

The champion, selected by judges Jamie Chapman and Ewart Fairlie, was a 657kg entry which went on to sell for 330p per kg or £2168.10 to Rennie Butchers, Forfar, while the reserve which scaled 576kg made 320p or £1843.20 to John Scott Meats, Paisley.

Rennie Butchers, Forfar also bought the best opposite sex to the champion, a 565kg Limousin from Lumgair Bros at 330p or £1864.50.

The Wilsons from Carskerdo, Cupar, Fife, topped the sheep section, with their champion pen of three, 52kg Beltex making £165 per head to the judge, George Jarron of Scott Bros, Dundee. Their reserve winners, a pen of three 53kg Texels realised £115 to Ewart Fairlie, Letham.
