Females from cage fighter Rob Bennett's Plasucha flock from Upper Hall, Powys, secured the top two prices at the Twilight Texel event at Carlisle, with sales at 14,000gns and 7000gns.

Mr Bennett who sold the 10,000gns lead priced lot at the same sale last year, saw his best this time sell to James Theyer of the Clanfield flock from Wittington, Cheltenham. A daughter of the 7000gns Mullan Awesome, she is out of a home-bred ewe by Eden Valley Wiz Kid that goes back to an ET sister to Connachan Sparky. She sold due to Plasucha All Star, a tup that has bred sons to 32,000gns and daughters to 9000gns.

Plasucha which won the champion flock of gimmers in the Shropshire and Borders Club competition earlier in the year, then received 7000gns from Hugh and Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, Muirkirk, for an April-born ewe lamb. She is by Plasucha Baller, a Plasucha All Star son and bred from a ewe by Brackenridge Young Gun that goes back to the 32,000gns Plasucha Big Gun.

Another ewe lamb by Mullan Awesome, a tup that has bred sons to 20,000gns, then made 2000gns to D and H Alderson, Barrowford, Lancs. She is bred from a ewe by Eden Valley Wiz Kid which is an ET sister to the 18,000gns Plasucha Alys.

George and Harry Wilkinson's Arkle and Ellen Valley flocks from Arkleby, Aspatria, Cumbria, sold to 4000gns and 2000gns for females. The first, a ewe lamb by the 17,000gns Silvermere Baltic, and out of a ewe by Whitehart Wanted, has already won two breed championships and sold to L Smith, Low Wreay, Hensington, Whitehaven, with a full ET sibling embryo, due mid February.

Merseyside breeder, FE Bennett, Springfield, Prescot, bought the 2000gns gimmer, a show female by Strawfrank Alphonso, out of a ewe by Clantibuies Unicorn. She sold due to Alderview Corona and with a embryo by Eden Valley Y Not, a sire that has bred gimmers to 7000gns, due mid February.

Richard Wilson's Eden Valley flock from Appleby, also received 2000gns for a gimmer by the Clinterty Yogi Bear son, Eden Valley A1, bred from a 4000gns Milnbank ewe by Teiglum Tornado. She sold carrying a single lamb to Knock Yankee, to J Hudson, Rigg House, Ivegill, Carlisle.
