Ayrshire-based Texel breeder, David Morrison, Dalwyne came home in style from United Auctions' multi-breed show and sale of in-lamb gimmers at Stirling, having sold the top priced lot at 4500gns.

Mr Morrison who runs just 25 breeding females in his flock established just three years ago, topped the trade with a gimmer by the 9000gns Ettrick Avatar. Bred from an Ettrick foundation female by Ettrick Rainbow Warrior, she changed hands carrying twins to the 12,000gns Procters Cheeky Monkey, to Gordon Gray, Selkirk, buying back some of his own genetics.

Dalwyne also received 1700gns for another Ettrick Avatar daughter in lamb to Procters Cheeky Monkey, from Messrs Wilson, Hawthornside, Bonchester Bridge.

Second top price was 1800gns paid for a Texel gimmer from Alan Blackwood's Auldhouseburn flock from Muirkirk. She is by Sportsmans A Star and sold due to Auldhouseburn Corky, to P Dodds, Tullybrannigan, Newcastle.

Suffolks peaked at 900gns for a gimmer from Jimmy Douglas' Cairness flock from Fraserburgh, purchased by Co Galway breeder, Messrs Burke, Taanaghmore, Corofin, Cummer. She is by Middlemuir Messi and sold in lamb to Glenagh Winston.
