A 650kg black Limousin bullock from A and E Vance, Bridgehouse, Whithorn, bagged the championship honours at C and D Auction Marts' Christmas show and sale at Dumfries before selling for the top price of £1950 or 300p per kg to Creetown Butcher, W Lindsay.
The 19 prime cattle forward were judged by Trevor, Becket, Beith who found his reserve in a red Limousin heifer from W Boyd, Terregle, which scaled 690kg and realising 240p per kg to Border Meats, Lockerbie.
The same buyers also bought the best Galloway a 670kg entry from JWK Paterson and Son, Low Three Mark, at 230p per kg.
Mr Becket also selected the top winners at the Christmas Show and sale of prime lambs which saw 40 pens forward and a pair of 51kg Beltex from Gillesbie Farms, lift the tri-colour. They later sold for £130 per kg to West Scottish Lamb.
