A busy day of Christmas show and sales were forward for Hawes Auction Mart, with 21 calves and 1771 sheep comprising of 1472 prime lambs and 299 cast ewes and rams.

Taking the supreme honours was the continental pen from JS Horner, Clapham, which later realised £148. The second prize continental pen took the reserve champion for CT and JE Willoughby, Redmire selling for £150. Among the Young Farmers classes it was Owen Acton, Leyburn, that took home the champion ticket with his pen of continentals, peaking at £139. Not far behind and bagging the reserve champion was another continental pen this time from Arron Troughton Sedbergh, which sold to £100.

The champion among the Christmas show and sale of calves also took the top price of £490 paid for a British Blue bull from JC Clarkson and Son, Bainbridge. Topping the heifers and taking home the blue and white ticket along with the second top price of the day was a British Blue heifer from AE Luffman, Howgill, which peaked at £390.
