Blue Texel sheep met a steady trade at the society’s in-lamb show and sale in Carlisle, with the 1600gns top price of the day coming from David Alexander’s Millside flock, Millside.

The sale-topping gimmer is by an imported tup and out of a home-bred dam. She was purchased by Messrs Reid, Drybridge, Buckie, and is in-lamb to Lyles Django – sired by the 4000gns Pistyll Buck Shot, which was champion at Carlisle in 2017.

Jan Rodenburgh’s Turbo Blue flock, from Rhydyceir, Capel Dewi, produced the day’s second top call of 1500gns. This was paid by Messrs Millichap, Rhonndda Cynon Taf, Porth, for a Turbo Blue ewe by Jonsland Wifi, out of a Turbo Blue dam. She is in-lamb to Turbo Blue Benefactor.

Two Millside gimmers attracted a 1350gns price tag, the first paid by Katrina MacArthur, Cawdor, Nairn, for a gimmer by Sams Yoyo, out of a Millside ewe and in-lamb to Lyles Django.

The second is by Beili Blues and out of a Millside ewe. She is also in-lamb to Lyles Django and headed home with the Duncans, of Gamrie, Banff.

The second 1300gns female was the champion, Kingscaird Apres-Ski, from Stasa Moyse’s Saltire Blue flock at Woolhillock. This gimmer is a daughter of Foxhill Yogie, and is out of a bought-in Kingscaird ewe. She is in-lamb to Caryls Captain and was knocked down to Messrs Fleming, Heriot, Midlothian.
