The Sapphire Blue Texel sale at Carlisle saw trade top at 4200gns for an ET-bred in-lamb gimmer from the Hackney flock of Paul Tippetts and Christine Williams, Lodge Hill, Shropshire.

A daughter Turbo Blue and out of an imported dam, she is in-lamb due twins by Nantyderri Derek in February. Forking out the money to purchase her was Chris and Laura Beck, Halesworth, Suffolk.

Another ET-bred in-lamb gimmer from Hackney attracted a 3200gns bid, this time selling to DD Brisbane, Castle Kennedy, Stranraer, Wigtownshire. She is also by Turbo Blue and out of Hackney Yeah Yeah – which her dam is the 13,000gns Whatmore Vaneer, sold in 2014. She is scanned to have a single lamb to the service sire, Nantyderri Derek.

David Miskelly, from Kildrummy, Alford, Aberdeenshire, also paid Hackney 2800gns for a Joe’s Alvin-sired gimmer, out of a Hackney dam. This was another in-lamb to the Nantyderri Derek tup.

Two Hackney gimmers made 2000gns, the first in the form of Hackney Caryl, a daughter of Joe’s Alvin, out of Hackney Yikes. Scanned to have three to Nantyderri Derek, this stylish gimmer is a full sister to one of the flock’s best, Hackney Classy, which has won many titles including best female and overall breed champion at the Royal Three Counties Show and Royal Highland Show. She was purchased by Messrs Burleigh, Kinawley, Enniskillen, Northern Ireland.

The second at 2000gns was by Turbo Blue and out of Hackney Yazz – a full sister to Hackney Yoko which sold for 4000gns in August. Scanned carrying two by Nantyderri Derek, she headed home with C Cochran, Darwen, Lancashire.

Steve and Sara Gibbons’ Whatmore flock had a top trade of 2000gns.Whatmore Cayenne, is a daughter of Whatmore Bentley and out of Whatmore Xtra-Special, and was purchased by Robert Graham, Airthrey Kerse, Bridge of Allan, Stirling. She is in-lamb to Whatmore Chaos.
