Bullocks led the way at United Auctions’ sale of 1142 store cattle and 170 cast cows, selling to 264.6p for a Limousin cross, from Gateside and £1280 for a Simmental cross, from Kirkton of Lundie.

Charolais crosses topped both sections amongst the heifers, selling for 260.90p from Gateside and £1270 from East Doura, to level at 203.32p.

Thainstone

Limousins were in demand at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ sale of 1025 store cattle and 11 young calves.

Topping the bullocks (524) at 294.1p were 204kg Limousins from Bogmore, Duncanstone, and selling at £1325 was a 634kg Limousin cross from Auchernack, Grantown on Spey. They levelled at 224.4p.

The breed also topped the 447 heifers which averaged 222.7p. Top per kg at 278.1p was an entry from Milton of Noth, Rhynie, with others from Auchernack, Grantown on Spey selling at £1350..

Meikle Camaloun, Fyvie, topped both sections among the bulls with Limousin crosses selling for 238.6p and £1150.

Trade for store lambs peaked at £100 for continentals from Serragair, Colpy.

Some 103 store cattle and 384 sheep from Orkney were also forward which saw bullocks topped at 256.3p for a pair of 394kg Simmentals from Maesquoy Farms, Harray. Top price per head was £1190 for more of the same from J S Firth and Partners, Langskaill, Rousay.

Simmentals also triumphed among the heifers at 243.3p and £1280 from GR Stevenson and Co, Burness, Firth.

Old season lambs sold to £95 for a continental from K Birkett, Annster, South Ronaldsay.

Caledonian Marts’ fortnightly sale met similar trade for the 308 store cattle forward, with Limousins and Charolais taking the top spots.

Bullocks averaged 214p selling to 273p for Limousins from A McDowall and Son, Mid Ervie, Kirkcolm, and to £1160 for Charolais from E Robertson, Skeoch, East Kilbride.

Skeoch also topped the heifers per head at £1090 for more Charolais, whilst per kg peaked at 227p for Limousins from W and T Nelson, High Kilphin, Ballantrae. Heifers levelled at 205p.

Black and Whites sold to 183p and £930 from DT Marshall, West Kirkland, Newton Stewart.

Also forward were 660 store hoggs, feeding sheep and ewes, which was topped at £124 by a pen of Texel ewes scanned to have twins, from D Shaw, Craigton, Stirling.

Texels topped the hogg trade at £86 from Mikael Digan, Meikle Crescent, Airdrie.

A Charolais cross heifer from Messrs Bowman, Croft House, Penrith, triumphed at Harrison and Hetherington’s sale of 1084 cattle leading at £1300.

The 717 head catalogued entry saw steers sell to £1260 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Robinson, Pelutho Park, Wigton.

A good entry of 261 weaned cattle which included 120 bull stirks saw a Limousin cross from Messrs Pinguey, High House top this heifer section at £1020, whilst Messrs Dixon, Upper Burnmouth, sold a Limousin cross bullock for £940.

Limousins also topped the bulls at £895 for Messrs Harrison, Midtown.

The 286 calves sold to £495 for a pair of Aberdeen-Angus bulls from Messrs Hogg, Whitehead Hill.

Topping the sheep trade at £97 were Beltex hoggs from Messrs Pickworth, Dotland Park, for Beltex.

The firm’s beef breeding sale on the Friday had a strong entry of 200 cows and heifers, which peaked at £2800 for a British Blue cross heifer from Messrs Cowan, The Ash.

The conclusion of the sale saw a run of 50 store cattle from Messrs Kermode, Orrisdale, Isle of Man, which sold to £1090 for a Limousin cross heifer, with steers to £1030 for a pen of three Charolais crosses.

The 384 heifers peaked at 273.6p for 212kg Charolais crosses from Dunlichity, Farr, and £1240 for a 685kg Aberdeen-Angus cross from Balnadelson, Lairg, to level at 216.9p.

Messrs Moralee, Hard Riding, topped the heifers with at £1270 for an 18-month-old.

Limousins were in demand at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ sale of 1025 store cattle and 11 young calves.

Topping the bullocks (524) at 294.1p were 204kg Limousins from Bogmore, Duncanstone, and selling at £1325 was a 634kg Limousin cross from Auchernack, Grantown on Spey. They levelled at 224.4p.

The breed also topped the 447 heifers which averaged 222.7p. Top per kg at 278.1p was an entry from Milton of Noth, Rhynie, with others from Auchernack, Grantown on Spey selling at £1350..

Meikle Camaloun, Fyvie, topped both sections among the bulls with Limousin crosses selling for 238.6p and £1150.

Trade for store lambs peaked at £100 for continentals from Serragair, Colpy.

Some 103 store cattle and 384 sheep from Orkney were also forward which saw bullocks topped at 256.3p for a pair of 394kg Simmentals from Maesquoy Farms, Harray. Top price per head was £1190 for more of the same from J S Firth and Partners, Langskaill, Rousay.

Simmentals also triumphed among the heifers at 243.3p and £1280 from GR Stevenson and Co, Burness, Firth.

Caledonian Marts’ fortnightly sale met similar trade for the 308 store cattle forward, with Limousins and Charolais taking the top spots.

Bullocks averaged 214p selling to 273p for Limousins from A McDowall and Son, Mid Ervie, Kirkcolm, and to £1160 for Charolais from E Robertson, Skeoch, East Kilbride.

Skeoch also topped the heifers per head at £1090 for more Charolais, whilst per kg peaked at 227p for Limousins from W and T Nelson, High Kilphin, Ballantrae. Heifers levelled at 205p.

Black and Whites sold to 183p and £930 from DT Marshall, West Kirkland, Newton Stewart.

Also forward were 660 store hoggs, feeding sheep and ewes, which was topped at £124 by a pen of Texel ewes scanned to have twins, from D Shaw, Craigton, Stirling.

A Charolais cross heifer from Messrs Bowman, Croft House, Penrith, triumphed at Harrison and Hetherington’s sale of 1084 cattle leading at £1300.

The 717 head catalogued entry saw steers sell to £1260 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Robinson, Pelutho Park, Wigton.

A good entry of 261 weaned cattle which included 120 bull stirks saw a Limousin cross from Messrs Pinguey, High House top this heifer section at £1020, whilst Messrs Dixon, Upper Burnmouth, sold a Limousin cross bullock for £940.

Limousins also topped the bulls at £895 for Messrs Harrison, Midtown.

The 286 calves sold to £495 for a pair of Aberdeen-Angus bulls from Messrs Hogg, Whitehead Hill.

Topping the sheep trade at £97 were Beltex hoggs from Messrs Pickworth, Dotland Park, for Beltex.

The firm’s beef breeding sale on the Friday had a strong entry of 200 cows and heifers, which peaked at £2800 for a British Blue cross heifer from Messrs Cowan, The Ash.

The conclusion of the sale saw a run of 50 store cattle from Messrs Kermode, Orrisdale, Isle of Man, which sold to £1090 for a Limousin cross heifer, with steers to £1030 for a pen of three Charolais crosses.

Increased demand for feeding sheep at C and D Auction Mart’s sale of 2826 head at Longtown on Tuesday, saw Texels from Park Nook top the hogg trade at £101 per head.

Ewes sold to £152 for Mules from Hill Top, with breeding sheep hitting £255 for pure Texel gimmers from P Gass, Aldery Terrace, while more of the same breed topped the adult sheep at £104, from Treaty Park.

A full ringside of buyers was actively seeking all classes of stock at C and D auction Marts’ fortnightly sale of 312 store cattle, where trade peaked at £1120 for a Limousin heifer from Kirkbride.

Simmental bullocks from Hartbush led the trade in the bullocks at £1115 from Hartbush. Bullocks and heifers averaged 207.8p and 199.62p, respectively.

Bulls were topped by Aberdeen-Angus from North Bowerhouses at £890.

Cast rams, ewes and store hoggs, were topped by Texel hoggs from Messrs Curry, East Arndarroch, at £107.

A buoyant demand was met at Dingwall and Highland Marts’ cattle sale comprising 914 store cattle, 23 adult head of breeding cattle and 161 OTM.

Bullocks (527) averaged 231.6p and sold to 276.3p per kg for a pair of 257kg Limousin crosses from Westburn, Thurso, and £1280 for a 705kg Simmental cross from Glebe Farm, Kiltarlity.

The 384 heifers peaked at 273.6p for 212kg Charolais crosses from Dunlichity, Farr, and £1240 for a 685kg Aberdeen-Angus cross from Balnadelson, Lairg, to level at 216.9p.

Three young bulls were topped by a 360kg Simmental cross from Culmaily, Golspie, at 208.3p, whilst a 515kg Limousin from Dunain Mains, Inverness, made £1020.

Trade continued at the same high rates selling to £1290 twice for an Aberdeen-Angus cross bullock at 18-months of age from Messrs Watson, Holywell Farms, Newcastle, and a 20-month-old Limousin cross from W Patterson, Halton Red House.

Messrs Moralee, Hard Riding, topped the heifers with at £1270 for an 18-month-old.

The 1818 store hoggs met the dearest trade of the season, selling to £148 for Dutch Texel ewe hoggs from WR Sparke and Son, Little Swinburne.
