Bluefaced Leicesters proved the star attraction at North West Auctions' J36 multi-breed show and sale of pedigree females securing the majority of top prices including the 4000gns lead.

A catalogued entry of more than 80 Blue females was topped by a recipient ewe carrying embryos from Neil Marston's Highberries flock from Cockermouth, purchased by Ron and Fran Wilson of the Low Tipalt flock, Armathwaite. The result of a flush from the home-bred ewe hogg Highberries M050 by Smearsett G011 (Ted), the resultant lambs are by the M001 Highberries, a son of B013 Smearsett (Black Tag).

The champion and reserve Bluefaced Leicesters both sold for 2000gns. Breed leader was a gimmer from WA and A Booth's Smearsett flock, Austwick, purchased by JC Walker and Son, Brennand, Dunsop Bridge, Clitheroe. She is by the H003 Riddings and sold carrying a single lamb.

Reserve was a ewe hogg by the L003 Steel, from J Wight and Son, Midlock, Crawford, Biggar. She was knocked down to Michael Hutchinson, Kirkby Redgate, Kirkby Stephen.

Grange-over-Sands breeder, R Lawrence, Grange-Over-Sands, also received 2000gns for a gimmer carrying twins to Smearsett L011, purchased by A Troughton, Sedbergh.

Centre records for a female Swaledale were achieved too when the champion, a gimmer from Patrick and Kirsty Sowerby, Oakbank, Kirkby Stephen, realised 2000gns to the judge, J Nattrass, Alston. She is by a Ghyll House ram and changed hands in lamb to the £16,000 Westend Elvis.

The second prize gimmer scooped the reserve honours for A and M Skidmore, Tebay. A daughter of Flakebridge Justice due to High Birkwith Kisdon 1, she realised 1200gns.

The Rough Diamond sale of Rough Fells, also attracted a new record when the reserve champion, a gimmer from TLB and J Knowles, Selside, by the 10,000gns High Cark Yankie, made 1450gns to J Potter, Tebay.

Champion was a gimmer from VR Guy, Tebay, which made 1000gns to the judge, Wendy Dickinson, Tebay.

A new section for Cheviot females, was topped at 400gns by a gimmer from KO Stones, Richmond who sold a North Country Cheviot by Allanshaws Nutter carrying a single to GG and MA Long, Ulverston.
