Centre records for an in-lamb Swaledale and a Dalesbred were smashed at a show and sale sale at Bentham, when entries sold at £6000 and £1700, respectively.

The multi-breed sale of hill-bred females was topped by the champion Swaledale from Patrick and Kirsty Sowerby's Oakbank flock from Kirkby Stephen. Their show stopper, which was selected supreme by the judge, Ben Kid, Wildboarclough, is by a Bull and Cave ram and sold carrying triplet lambs to a John Bland ram, for £6000 to Frank Brennand, Ellerbeck, Chapel le Dale.

Leading the Dalesbred at £1700 was a two-shear ewe from Colin and Alan Price of Longlands. She is by the Bernard Gill, Yarlsber tup, out of a ewe by a John Dawson, Field Head ram bought in 2012 and changed hands carrying twins by the £5000 Mick Carr, Brackenbottom ram to Messrs Chandler of Kirkby Malzeard, Ripon.

The champion Dalesbred from RH Close realised £500.

Both the champion and reserve Herdwicks realised £500 for the vendors, D and J Wilson and IK and AM Grisedale, which were purchased by the judge, George Harryman and Messrs Beech, Burniston, respectively.

Cheviots sold to £420 for a gimmer from Keith Stones, Nun Cote Nook.
