The March Border and Lakeland Holstein club sale at Carlisle attracted a quality show with an overall average of £1868, backed up by top prices of 2100gns paid on three occasions for fresh heifers.

First was the reserve champion, Stowbeck Khedira Rosebowl from Skirwith Hall Farms, Penrith, purchased by the judge, Graham Bradley, Bradley Farms. She is by Khedira and bred from a high production VG dam.

The same home also sold Stowbeck Buffalo Lorna for 2100gns to Messrs Thomas, Llanelli, Dyfed. A View-Home Buffalo daughter, she is out of an Ex dam.

The third 2100gns sale came for the Roan family’s Colvend Dalliance Lisa, from Colvend, Dalbeattie. She is bred from six generations of Ex or VG dams and sold to Messrs Oldfield, Gisburn.

Next best at 2000gns was Espland Uno Madge, from Alan Cannon, Appleby. She headed home to Fife with Messrs Barr, Cowdenbeath.

Cows were topped at 2000gns for Netherkeir Craven Cathy from Brian Harvey, Dumfries. Fresh in her second, she sold to Park House Farming, Wigton.
