SOME 1158 prime and cast sheep were forward for Craig Wilson’s sale, where nine new season lambs averaged 218.6p.

Top price was £100 paid for Suffolks from A Wallace and Co, Claycrop, and 227.9p per kg from the same home.

Hoggs (1002) averaged 201p, with top prices of £113 and 235.4p per kg for Beltex from Q Milroy, Kirranrae.

Cast sheep hit £119 for a Texel ewe from G Hurcomb, Bankhead.

Forfar

LAWRIE and Symington sold 28 prime cattle, five OTM and 537 prime sheep and cast ewes and rams, at it’s sale where bullocks (11) sold to 244p for a 584kg Limousin from Nethermyres and to £1504.80 for a 660kg Limousin from the Gask, to level at 227p.

Heifers (14) sold to 260p and £1474.20 for a 567kg Limousin from Nethermyres, to average 232p.

Prime hoggs (380) peaked at £124 for a 50kg Beltex and 270p per kg for a 40kg Beltex both from Newmill of Inshewan, to average 208p with an SQQ of 210p.

Ewes (156) averaged £83 with Texels from Newton of Fotheringham topping the trade at £138.

Dumfries

PRIME hoggs (712) met a sharp trade through C and D Auction Marts, selling to £102.50 for Texels from Lanarkland and to 245p for Texels from Kirkbride, to level at 237.9p.

Cast ewes (301) maintained recent rates peaking at £140 for Texels from Woodcroft.

Huntly

TRADE remained buoyant at United Auctions’ sale of 1734 prime sheep, where new season lambs (26) sold to 237p for 46.5kg Suffolks from Upper Woodside, Rothiemay and to £110 for 46.5kg Suffolk crosses from the same home.

Old season lambs (1277) produced an SQQ average of 212.79p, having sold to 240p and £103 for 43kg Beltex from The Mull, Huntly.

Ewes were topped at £150 Texels from Broadmyre, Clatt.

Stirling (Cale)

CALEDONIAN Marts sold 61 bullocks, heifers and young bulls, and 47 OTM cattle at their sale, where prime heifers sold to 245p for a Limousin from W Dandie and Sons, Learielaw, Broxburn and to £1508 for a Limousin from D Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, Canobie.

Bullocks sold to 235p for a Limousin from Learielaw, and to £1539 for another of the same breed from John Whiteford and Son, Hilltarvit Mains, Cupar.

Bulls peaked at 182p for a Limousin from W Dick and Sons, Mains of Throsk, Stirling.

The 628 prime sheep sold saw 28 spring lambs sell to £122 twice for Beltex and Suffolks from RA Campbell and Son, Meikle Seggie and J Wilson, Balhelvie respectively.

Hoggs sold to 271p for a 45kg Beltex from RA Cambell and Son, Meikle Seggie, with the sale average being 217p.

Stirling (UA)

UNITED AUCTIONS’ sale of 44 spring lambs and 5445 prime hoggs, 776 ewes and rams saw hoggs average 207.75p per kg.

New season lambs were topped by West Lecropt with Hampshire Downs at £124.00 and to 299p for Beltex from Gillbank.

Old season lambs peaked £136 for Beltex from Doune Farms and to 305p for Beltex from Luckenburn.

Broomknowes topped the ewes at £162 with Texels while tups hit £140.00 for Texels form Westhall.

Thainstone

MORE than 40 prime cattle were forward for Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ weekly sale, where bullocks (15) averaged 179.6p (-3.1p) and sold to 217p for a 565kg British Blue from Whiteside, Tullynessle and to £1253.55 for a 685kg Limousin from Nether Mains, Torphins.

Heifers (23) levelled at 198.6p (+2.4p) having peaked to 219p per kg for a 575kg Limousin from Monlettie, Methlick and a 565kg Limousin from Newton of Drum, Drumoak, or to £1288 for a 700kg Charolais from Mains of Elrick, Auchnagatt.

The sale of 4062 prime sheep, saw new season lambs (21) sell to 236.8p for 38kg Beltex from Bilboa, Daviot and £112 for 59kg continentals from Craigentarph Steading, Blairs.

Old season lambs (3154) averaged 204.5p (+12.4p) having reached 291.9p for 37kg Beltex from Culhay, Forbes and £130 for 80kg Suffolks from The Bothy, Rivehill.

Some 107 old season store lambs sold to £92 for Texels from Blackmyre, St Fergus, while feeding ewes and rams (784) peaked at £141 for Texel ewes from Little Howes, Holm.

Longtown

SOME 3705 prime hoggs and 1861 cast ewes and rams were forward for C and D Auction Marts’ weekly sale, where hoggs sold to 310p for Beltex from R and M Paterson, Upper Auchenlay and to £132 for more of the same from B McAllister, Parkgate.

An average of 216.9p was achieved with an SQQ of 228.4p.

St Boswells

HARRISON and Hetherington’s sale saw 78 clean cattle, 35 cast cows and 1362 hoggs and 409 ewes forward.

Bullocks (28) and heifers (50) averaged 210p (-4p) and 208p (-6p) respectively, with top prices of £1424.38 from Bee-Edge and 238p per kg from Lennoxlove.

Texels from Wardhead topped the prime hoggs at £110 while Beltex from Halidean Mill realised 237.5p. The overall sale average was 199p (+8p).

Ewes (409) cashed in £82 and were topped by Suffolks from Highfield Farming at £129, whilst tups made £107 for a Zwartbles from Woodlands.

Lanark

ON Monday, Lawrie and Symington sold 39 bullocks and heifers and 90 cast cows, where Limousins topped the heifers at 260p and £1473 for entries from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie.

Limousins also topped the bullocks, selling to 230p from Castlehill, Lockerbie and to £1393 from Gillandersland.

The 2335 hoggs sold to £125 for Texels from Messrs Clark, Wellheads and to 267p per kg for a Beltex from Messrs Taylor, Southholm, to average 209p with an SQQ of 215.5p.

A smaller show of 584 cast ewes and rams saw trade easier, with a top of £178 achieved for Texels from Messrs Bell, Highfield. Rams sold to £132 for Texels from Messrs Taylor, Skirling Craigs.

Ayr

SOME 1418 sheep comprising 1115 prime hoggets, 39 spring lambs and 264 cast ewes and tups were forward for Craig Wilson Marts’ sale, which averaged 202.3p with an SQQ of 210.4p.

Top was £114 for 59kg Beltex from M Stevenson, Balcaimie and 240.4p for 47kg Beltex from the same home.

The firm’s sale 11 prime heifers and five bullocks averaged 213.7p and 204.8p respectively.

Top price was 235p per kg or £1363 for a Limousin cross bullock from North Boig, whilst heifers peaked at 230p or £1345.50 for a Limousin from Borland.

Dingwall

DINGWALL and Highland Marts had 805 prime sheep for their weekly sale on Tuesday, where old season lambs (791) averaged 214.2p and sold to 238.1p for 42kg Beltex from Shoreton Farms, Culbokie and £101 for 45.5kg Texel from Easter Sheep park, Balblair.

Top price amongst a small entry of feeding sheep was £89 paid for a Mule ewe from Hill House, Muir of Ord.

Castle Douglas

WALLETS Marts sold 311 prime hoggs at their sale on Tuesday, to average 202.86 per kg with an SQQ of 208.54p.

Top price was £106 from Craigview or 228.3p per kg from Killochy.

Cast sheep peaked at £99 for Texels from Erncrogo.
