Some 515 prime and cast sheep were sold through Craig Wilson, where 435 lambs sold to average 226p per kg.

Top price of £115 was achieved for heavyweight Suffolks from G Hurcomb, Bankhead and for Texels from Baltier Farming Co Ltd, whilst top per kg of 239p was attained for Beltex from R Templeton, Carslae.

Cast sheep reached £130 for Texels from Kym Aitken McDonald, No3 South Balfern, while G Hurcomb, Bankhead, topped the Mules at £88, with Blackfaces selling to £67 from R and CM Donnan, Knockiebae.

Forfar

Lawrie and Symington had forward 19 prime cattle and 644 prime sheep and cast ewes and rams, at their sale.

Bullocks (five) sold to 235p per kg for a 580kg Limousin from Nethermyres, and to £1415.25 for a 629kg Limousin also from Nethermyres, to average 227p.

Heifers (14) peaked at 252p for a 527kg Blonde from Chapel of Barras, and to £1371.44 for a 553kg Limousin from West Bog, to level at 233p.

New season lambs (577) produced a top of 257p per kg for three 47kg Texels from Templeton and to £128 for two 53kg Texels from North Mains of Dun, to cash in at 226p (-4p on the week), whilst cast ewes reached £100 for Texels from Easterton of Gagie.

Dumfries

C and D Auction Marts held their weekly sale of primestock, where OTMs were topped at £1168.65 for a Limousin from East Gallaberry, and to 149p per kg for a Simmental from Bush of Craigs.

The 776 prime sheep saw 489 spring lambs average 231p with a top of £120 paid for Charollais from Tinwald Shaws.

The sale of 287 cast ewes was sharper on the week, selling to £128 for Texels from Woodcroft with rams to £127 for Texels from New Farm.

Huntly

United Auctions sold 1034 prime sheep, where new season lambs (454) averaged 231.04p having sold to 255p per kg for 37kg Texels from Dunscroft, Huntly, and to £123 for 56kg Texels from North Dorlaithers, Turriff.

Old season lambs (104) peaked at £102 for 65kg Texels from Croftbain, Glenlivet, whilst ewes attained £154 for Texels from Sibmister and Stainland.

Stirling (Cale)

Caledonian Marts sold 160 cattle comprising of 83 bullocks, heifers and young bulls, 52 OTM cattle and 25 young calves and stirks at their sale.

Bullocks sold to 255p per kg on three occasions from Moir Livestock, Home Farm, Fraserburgh, J and J Watt, Stoneyhill, Inverurie and W Dandie and Sons, Learielaw, Broxburn and to £1642 from J and J Watt, to cash in at 224p per kg.

Heifers sold to 250p on four occasions from J and S Barr, Leyden, Kirknewton; AA and J Brand, Nethermyres, Auchtermuchty; W Dandie and Sons, Learielaw, Broxburn and AS Hay, Mains of Cultmalundie, Tibbermore and to £1518 from J and J Rearie, Riggs, Freuchie, to level at 230p.

Bulls peaked at 220p for a British Blue from Dalchirla Farms, Muthill, and to £1627 for an Aberdeen-Angus from D Ralston, Castlehill, Torrance.

OTMs averaged 141p having sold to 181p for a Limousin from Dalchirla Farms, and to £1360 for a Limousin from Moir Livestock, Fraserburgh.

Dairy cows balanced out at 106p selling to 153p from W Waugh, North Bankhead, Avonbridge and to £1050 from T Greer and Sons, Wharlawhill, Fossoway.

On Tuesday, 564 spring lambs averaged 228.3p (+2.3p the week and 42.2p dearer on the year), with a top price of £129 paid for a 51kg Beltex from Doune Farms, West Lundie, Argaty, or 276p per kg for a Texel from R Kenny, Robertsonlane, Blairdrummond.

The 280 cast ewes averaged £102.42 selling to £140 for Texels from J W Farquharson, The Horn, Errol, whilst cast rams were topped at £100 for Beltex from WS Young and Son, Mawcarse, Milnathort.

Hoggs sold to £81 for Texels from Foot of Green, Bannockburn.

Stirling (UA)

The sale of 3915 prime sheep through United Auctions, saw new season lambs (1878) sell to £121 per head for Texels from Shields, and to 274p per kg for Beltex from Easter Ochtermuthill, to average 223.94p per kg.

Trade was similar on the week amongst the 1845 ewes which were topped by Dalchirla Farms and Wester Mye with Texels at £156.

Rams sold to £138 for Texels from Hill of Errol.

Thainstone

Some 50 prime cattle were forward for Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ sale, where both the bullock and the heifer sections were topped by Limousins from Messrs Watt, Stoneyhill, Keithhall at 237p and 229p per kg, respectively.

Bullocks also peaked at £1526.15 for a Limousin from Messrs Mair, Yonder Bognie, Forgue whilst heifers sold to £1459.20 for more of the same from Messrs Shand, Chapelford, Buckie.

Young bulls sold to 179p for a Limousin from Messrs Mackie, Whiteside, Tullynessle, and £1369.15 for an Aberdeen-Angus from Messrs Wattie, Mains of Tonley, Alford, whilst OTM clean cattle were topped at 175p or £1260 for a Limousin from Messrs McConachie, Lethendry, Cromdale.

Another strong show of 146 cast cows and bulls met a fast selling trade, where continental cows sold to £1530 for a Limousin from Messrs Sandison, Smerral, Bower and to 207.2p for a Gascoigne from Messrs Malcolm, Hardhillock Farm, Maryculter.

Some 1116 prime sheep and feeding ewes and rams saw new season lambs (783) average 220.9p (-11.5p) per kg having sold to 247.4p for 38kg Texels from Redwood, Kingsford and £140 for 87kg Suffolks from West Teuchan, Cruden Bay.

Old season lambs (67) peaked at 198.6p for 35kg continentals from Wester Silverford, Gamrie and £95.50 twice for 58kg Texel crosses from East Fingask, Oldmeldrum and 50kg Cheviots from Little Aucheoch, Maud, to average 222.9p.

Feeding ewes and rams (262) sold to £162.50 for Texels from Home Farm of Auchry, Cuminestown.

Longtown

C and D Auction Marts sale of 2471 prime lambs sold to 276p per kg for Texel lambs from G and CE Edminson, Middle Farm, Crindledyke and £123 for Suffolks from GT Beattie, Guardsmill, Gretna, to average 227.4p with an SQQ of 227.2p.

A large entry of cast sheep saw 408 ewes sell for more than £100 per head and to a top of £172 Texels from Newton Field, Maryport.

Rams sold to £136 for Texels from SJ Harrison, Aimshaugh, Alston.

St Boswell

Harrison and Hetherington’s of bullocks (24) and heifers (48) averaged 220.55p (+7p) and 212p (-5p) respectively.

Clean cattle were topped at £1399.92 and 238p from Bee Edge, whilst cast cattle sold to £1500.40 from Kersknowe and to 179p from Humebyres.

Spring lambs (1265) averaged 227p having sold to £124 for Texels from Upper Blainslie and to 255p for Beltex from Redden. Cast ewes averaged £84.23, selling to £119 for Texels from Belmont.

Lanark

ON Monday, Lawrie and Symington sold 40 bullocks and heifers, eight young bulls, 70 cast cows and bulls and 48 calves.

Top price amongst the heifers was 262p for a Limousin from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, Canonbie, and £1618 for a similar animal from Messrs Wainwright, Todhall, Cupar.

Bullocks peaked at 246p from Todhall and from Messrs Pettigrew, Faskine Farm, Airdrie, and to £1480 for the same animal from Todhall.

A larger show of spring lambs saw prices peak at £135 for Texels from Andrew Neilson, East Brackenridge. Top price per kg was 269p paid for Texels from Messrs Struthers, Collielaw. The sale averaged 222p with an SQQ of 222p.

The 2269 cast ewe, rams and hoggets witnessed a sale top at £167 for Texels from Andrew Neilson, East Brackenridge and £81 for Blackfaces from Rennie, Clatto.
