SEVEN individuals sold for more than 2000gns at Robert Shewell’s dispersal of the ‘Master Breeder’ Livox Holstein herd from Reddings Farm, Tintern, Chepstow, where a top price of 2350gns was achieved for the VG87-classified Livox Goodwhone Lofty 4.

This on-farm sale which saw some 60 years of dedicated breeding come to an end, included 150 head of cattle of which half of the cows were classified either Excellent or Very Good.

Sale leader was a fresh third calver giving 40kg per day. Livox Goodwhone Lofty 4, a TW Goodwhone-sired cow, is a grand-daughter of the Ex94-4 Livox Marconi Lofty 5. She was knocked down to Tom Jones, Pembrokeshire.

Lead priced heifer at 2300gns was Livox Dreamer Alice 2 GP82, which calved a heifer calf by Farnear Delta Lambda in April, that later sold for the top calf price of 720gns.

Both sold to Russell Law, Carmarthen. Dreamer Alice is by Wiltor Dreamer and sold served to Farnear Delta Lambda again.

Recently served heifers peaked at 1000gns and maiden heifers sold to 880gns.
