Greystone Grace, a gimmer from Dunblane breeder, Aly Baird, led the way at the Zwartbles Premier Sale at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, selling for the top price of 1900gns.

A daughter of Craigies Djangos, out of the Greystone Alan daughter, Greystone Callander, she sold with a sponge inserted to Messrs Lloyd, Trefriw, Llanrwst, Gwynedd.

Best from Joyce and Neil Millar, Woodhouse Mains, Kirtlebridge, Lockerbie, at 1800gns was the gimmer, Joyfield Golden Girl, which sold to fellow Dumfriesshire breeders, the Goldies from Mouswald. A full sister to the 2000gns Joyfield Flawless, sold here last year, she is by Milburn Sam, whilst her dam, a Cynefin ewe, is by Cynefin Wallgo.

Hayberries Gong Wong made her mark for P and S Addinson, Hayberries, Mickleton, Barnard Castle, Co Durham, when she sold for 1200gns to near neighbours, Messrs Taylor and Partners, Bishop Auckland. This triplet-born gimmer is by Beech Hay Chancellor and out of Hayberries Wong Tong, which goes back to Tombob Superstar.

Top price amongst the ewes lambs was 1000gns paid for Thistledome Hope from Kaleem Shaikh, Uddingston, Glasgow, selling to Messrs Bigland, Allithwaite, Grange Over Sands. Another triplet-born entry, she is by Croy Eddie and out of Brookdene Duchess.

Shearling rams also sold to 1000gns – on two occasions. First was Aquila Globe Trotter from NR and S Henderson, Whitehouse Farm Cottage, Stirling. A son of Millburn Sam, out of Aquila Canada, he also sold to the Goldie Family, Mouswald.

Matching that price was Pistyll Hugo, from GA and HM Francis, Pistyll Uchaf, Abergorlech, purchased by Messrs Hourston, Orphir, Orkney. He is by Redgate Gaston and out of a Castle Hill Aldred-sired ewe.

The dispersal sale of young Faye Wilkie’s Whitestone flock from Skene, Westhill, Aberdeenshire, peaked at 1800gns on two occasions.

First was the shearling ram, Whitestone Giovanni, by the 1800gns Killymallaght Enigma, out of Balchurn Bonnie, which goes back to Smiddy Hill Warrior. He headed home with Messrs Foster, Osmotherley, Northallerton.

Also making 1800gns for the Whitestone flock was Joyfield Flawless which was originally purchased for 2000gns at last year’s sale from the Millars. This 2018-born ewe is a daughter of Millburn Sam and out of a Cynefin ewe which is sired by Cynefin Wallgo. She headed back home with her breeders, Messrs Millar.

Her ewe lamb, Whitestone Highhopes also sold to Messrs Millar for 1400gns. This February-born lamb is by the 1800gns Didcot Fjord.
