A strong trade for pedigree Berrichon sheep at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, saw prices peak at 2000gns.
Sale leader was the shearling ram, Janos Uncle Ted, from B Evans, Penrhos, Trefeglwys, Powys. A son of Marshland Troy, bred from Snowdonia Rashina, he headed south with Messrs Gregory, Peak Forest, Buxton, Derbyshire.
Marshland Uppsala, again from Mr Evans, topped the females at 800gns, selling to Messrs Hull, Dengie, Southminster, Essex. This gimmer was bred by C Morse, and is a daughter of Janos Romeo.
Another from the same home, Marshland Utopia, again bred by C Morse, made the same money selling to Messrs Powell, Kelso. She is by Marshland Troy.
Marshland Troy was also behind the lead priced ram lamb at 1100gns, from Lockerbie-based breeder, Ms RAC Barraclough. He sold in a two-way split to Chris Curry, Thropton, Morpeth and Messrs Powell, Kelso. The dam, Janos Sandy, is a Goitre daughter.
Just behind on 1000gns, was the shearling ram, Kirkton Untouchable from Arabella Johnston, Kirkton, Falkirk. He is by Newark Maximus, and was purchased by Messrs Hull, Dengie, Southminster, Essex.
