A Bennachie-bred ewe lamb from Berwickshire-based James Royan, led the trade at a breed sale of Dorset sheep at Carlisle, selling for 1700gns.
The best from Mr Royan’s flock from Duns, a polled October-born lamb by Ballytaggart Xtra-Special, sold south at this price to Messrs Shenton, Ardudwy, Gwynedd. She is out of a home-bred ewe by Richhill Tequila.
Derbyshire breeder, Sam Driver, of the Sandy Lane flock from Glossop, sold two at 1100gns to include a Sandy Lane Xceptional-sired gimmer scanned for twins to Maineview Balboa. She sold to Messrs Pritchard, Llangybi, Pwllheli, Gwynnedd.
Topping the ram lamb trade at 1100gns came from S Lane, Caeser Guerini
Wigtownshire producers, Messrs Campbell, Elrig, Newton Stewart, bought the second, Sandy Lane Caeser Guerini, a ram lamb by Sandy Lane Arctic Monkey, out of a home-bred ewe by Ballytaggart Nijinsky.
