Some 892 prime and cast sheep were sold through Craig Wilson Marts’ sale where lambs averaged 208.5p per kg having sold to £107 for Suffolks from JG McMillan and Co, Over Airies and to 222.6p for Texels from D McCutcheon and Co, Boghouse.

Cast sheep peaked at £120 from W Stevenson and Son, Auchenflower.

Forfar

Lawrie and Symington sold six bullocks to a top of 241p per kg for a 622kg Limousin from Nethermyres and to £1503.32 for a 637kg entry of the same breed from the same home, to average 231p.

Limousins also topped the heifers (20), which reached 262p for a 515kg entry from the Gask and to £1495 for a 575kg animal also from the Gask, to level at 236p.

Lambs (659) reached 234p for a 46kg Texel from Templeton and to £115 for another of the same from Clochie, to cash in at 204p.

Cast ewes (255) averaged £58 and sold to £124 for Texels from Mains of Dalrulzion.

Dumfries

At C and D Auction Marts’ sale, cattle sold to 242p for a Limousin cross heifer from J Jardine, Yett, while OTMs hit £1110 for an Aberdeen Angus from Whitehall and to 148p for a Simmental from Millhill.

The 530 lambs reached £108 for Texels from Over Cairn or 263p per kg for more of the same from Over Abington, to level at 226.6p.

The 376 cast sheep hit £108 for Texel ewes from Halldykes, while rams peaked to £118 for Texels from Kirkhill.

Huntly

United Auctions’ sale of 2522 prime sheep, saw lambs (1568) average 209.1p per kg selling to 225p for 50kg Bleus from Myreton, Insch and to £120 for 62kg Blue Texels from West Cairnhill, Culsalmond.

Cast ewes (954) reached £104 for Suffolks from Broadland.

Stirling (Cale)

Caledonian Marts sold 64 bullocks, heifers and young bulls, 61 OTM cattle and 24 calves at their sale, where heifers sold to 255p for a Limousin from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill, Muthill and to £1670 for a Limousin from D Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, Canobie, to level at 232p.

Bullocks peaked at 248p for a Limousin from D Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, and to £1541 for a Salers from M Orr and Sons, Penston, MacMerry, to cash in at 223p.

Bulls reached 210p for a Limousin from NR Gall, Kininmonth, Mintlaw and to £1579 for another of the same from W Dick and Sons, Mains of Throsk.

OTMs averaged 139p selling to 172p for a Limousin from JR MacGregor, Dyke, and to £1380 for a Charolais from Messrs McMurrich, Ballater Drive, Stirling.

Dairy types balanced out at 111p peaking to 138p and £1030 from W and M Wyllie, Broompark, Torphichen.

On Tuesday, the firm sold 2438 lambs and cast sheep, where J Smith, Bankhead, Milnathort sold the top priced lamb, a 52kg Beltex at £126. Top per kg was 256p for a 45kg Texel cross from RD Morgan, West Leys, Errol.

The sale of 715 cast ewes and rams was topped at £156 for Texels from A Beaton, Wester Crosshill, while rams sold to £99 for Bluefaced Leicesters from R McNee, Woodend, Armadale.

Wooler

Harrison and Hetherington’s sale of 1104 lambs and 437 cast ewes saw lambs sell to £124 and 285p for Beltex from Annstead, to average 218p with an SQQ of 221p.

Cast ewes averaged £73 selling to £140 for Texels from Annsteads.

Stirling (UA)

In excess of 6000 head of prime sheep were sold through United Auctions, where lambs (4738) sold to £125 and 271p per kg for Beltex from Strageath Hall, to average 211.95p.

Ewes (1629) sold to £148 for Texels from Ballingry, while rams were topped at £113 for Texels from Dougall Estates.

Thainstone

Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ sale saw bullocks (14) cash in at 209.1p having peaked to 228p for a 540kg Limousin cross and £1468.80 for a 680kg Limousin, both from Whiteside, Tullynessie.

Limousins also topped the heifers (15) at 243p for a 570kg entry from Kirkhill, Gartly and £1421.30 for a 610kg cross from Hillocks, Whiterashes, to level at 221.5p.

Young bulls (14) averaged 172.7p having sold to 201p for a 625kg Charolais cross from Mains of Drumwhindle, Ellon and £1325.25 for a 855kg Limousin from Whitehaugh, Burnhervie.

The 1706 lambs which averaged 204p sold to 231.1p per kg for 45kg Beltex from Foggieley, Craigievar and £117 twice – for 55kg Texels from South Greycairn, Newmill and for 54kg Texel crosses from Coralhill, Lonmay.

Feeding sheep (766) sold to £155 Texels from North Gardie, Aith.

Longtown

At C and D Auction Marts’ sale the 3408 lambs sold to 297p for a Beltex from S and A Moore, Mains of Balhall, Angus and to £133 for Texels from L and N Shuttleworth, Drumburn, Dumfries, to average 221.5p with an SQQ of 218.9p.

Ewes (3521) sold to £174 from NR Edmondson, Ford Dairy, whilst rams hit at £200 for Texels from A and HC Smith, Crumhaughhill, Hawick.

St Boswell

At Harrison and Hetherington’s sale at St Boswells, bullocks (23) and heifers (38) averaged 244p and 248p respectively.

Clean cattle sold to £1443.36 and 248p per kg from Bee Edge, whilst cast entries peaked at £1369.04 from Kedzlie and to 171p per kg from Corsbie and Oakwood.

Texels topped the lambs (2109) having sold to £125 for an entry from Symington Mains and 260.5p for Texels from Waterside, to level at 220.9p.

The 723 cast ewes cashed in at £72 having peaked to £121 for Texels from DJ Texels.

Lanark

Some 39 bullocks and heifers and 76 cast cows were forward for Lawrie and Symington’s sale.

Limousins led the heifers, at 252p per kg four times from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees Farm, or to £1637 from Messrs Wainwright, Todhall Farm, Cupar.

Bullocks peaked at 246p and £1405 for a Limousin cross from Balquharrage.

Lambs (3463) were topped at £123 for Texels from Messrs Struthers, Collielaw and to 275p for Beltex from Messrs Lambie, Drumbuie, to average 215.8p with an SQQ of 218.5p.

The 2161 ewes were topped at £169 for Texels from Messrs Kennedy, Mitchellhill.

Ayr

Limousins topped Craig Wilson Marts’ prime cattle sale, where heifers (21) peaked at 249p or £1593 for an entry from C Smith, North Boig, New Cumnock, to level at 225.4p, while the three steers averaged 216p having reached a top price of 243p and £1530 for a Limousin cross from Chris Smith, North Boig.

In the rough ring, five bulls sold to £1360 for an Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Young, Skerrington Mains, whilst clean cattle sold to £1160 and 181.3p for a Saler heifer from Messrs Logan, Dalfask.

Beef cattle sold to £1260 for a Simmental from Messrs Young, Skerrington Mains, with dairy types peaking to £1050 for a Black and White from J Stevenson, Drumsuie and to 155p H Young, Waulkmill.

On Monday, the firm sold 2129 prime lambs and 936 cast ewes and tups, where lambs averaged 216.9p per kg.

Eve Currie from Fisherton Farm topped the lamb trade at £126 with a Texel while top per kg was 246.3p paid for a Beltex from Carrick Primestock , Lyonston.

Cast sheep sold to £165 for Texel ewes from Allison Miller, High Gameshill Farm, Stewarton, while tups sold to £130 for Texels from Messrs Wilson, Balluskie, Barrhill.

Dingwall

Dingwall and Highland Marts sold seven prime heifers to average 223.9p with a top of 233.0p per kg paid for a 585kg Limousin cross from Bridgend Farm and £1447.55 for a 655kg entry of the same breed from the same home.

Some 462 lambs cashed in at 194.9p, peaking at 215.7p and £96 for 44.5kg Beltex crosses from Torgorm, Conon Bridge and £96 for 47.5kg Cheviots from Fleucharry, Dornoch.

The 492 feeding sheep were topped at £97 for a Suffolk ewe from Fair-a-Far, Kirkhill, while Lewis Livestock Producers sold their consignment of 332 prime and feeding sheep to £85 for Suffolk cross ewes from Islivig, Uig.

Castle Douglas

On Tuesday, Wallets Marts sold 1283 prime lambs to average 227p with an SQQ of 228.1p.

Top price of £121 was achieved twice by Millenium Bleus from Messrs Newbould, Meikle Cloak and for Texels from Messrs McKie, Finniness.

Lead price per kg was 260p paid for Beltex from Gelston Castle Farms, Castle Douglas.

The 716 cast sheep reachedd £139 for Texels from Breconside, while Blackface sold to £67.50 from Falbae and Southmains.
