A new centre record average for ewe lambs of £112.91 was achieved at United Auctions’ sale of 5312 Mule, Cheviot Mule and Suffolk breeding sheep at Huntly.

The sale saw Mule ewe lambs level at £110.61 per head, up £13.22 on the year with Cheviot Mules balancing out at £120.03, a rise of £9.93.

Cheviot Mule ewe lambs sold to £170 from Dalrachie, whilst Scotch Mules were topped at £140 from Ruthven Farms, Bomakelloch.

Gimmer also soared to new levels and in all sections, with Mules (1559) averaging £162.40 (+£36.14); Texels (429) at £180.72 (+£30.66); Suffolks at (56) £165.75 (+£23.56), and Cheviot Mules (478) at £176.50 (+37.40).

Suffolks from Biggins topped the gimmers at £260 with Texel crosses attaining £205 from Stewart Lane, and Mule gimmers at £200 bid from Towiemore.
