Buyers were selective at the Beltex Sheep Society’s evening sale at Leek where averages improved in all sections.
Top price was 880gns paid for a shearling from Tom and Jack Belfield’s Boothlow flock from Sheen, Buxton. Selling to J Trueman and Partner, Adlington, Macclesfield, was Boothlow Ecstasy ET, an embryo son of the 2000gns Woodies Walnut, by Glenkeen Sanders, sired by the 4200gns Broughton Cardhu.
Scottish consignors sold to 800gns for Andrew Wainwright’s Todhalls flock from near Cupar. His Wainwright Extra Special, a shearling ram purchased by TW Fountain, Marston Montgomery, Ashbourne, is by Woodies Bad Boy and out of the Rathbone Alien-sired Todhall Cleopatra.
Todhall Eagle, a Rathbone Alien son from the same home made 750gns to M and L Gibson, Nantwich, Crewe.
Averages: 25 shearling rams, £568 (+£104 for five more); six ram lambs, £471 (+£147 for one more); 10 gimmers, £460 (+£49 for three less); nine ewe lambs £342 (+£31 for one more).
