Scrogtonhead Class Act, a Texel shearling from the Gray family’s flock based in Galston, Ayrshire, has sold been privately for £10,000 to large-scale commercial ram producer Paul Slater.
The tup, which was destined for Kelso Ram Sales had it not been cancelled, will join Mr Slater’s Whiteley Hey flock at Adlington, Macclesfield.
He is the first shearling son to be sold off Knock Brutus – a tup bought at Lanark in 2018 – while the dam, by Fordafourie Young Star, was bought in utero with a Cambwell gimmer at the Select Seven sale.
The Grays used Class Act on their flock last year as a lamb and they plan to do the same this year, before he heads to his new home.
