The second rescheduled 'Kelso Ram Sales' at C and D Auction Marts' at Longtown, saw 220 Charollais and cross-bred rams sell to average £526 with an 84% selling rate.
Topping the sale at £1500 was a Beltex cross Texel shearling ram from the Gibb family, Toftcombs, Biggar, purchased by Easterhouse Farms, Wishaw.
The Taylors from Heathery Hall, Thankerton, achieved £1250 and £1100, twice, for their Beltex cross rams purchased by JM Retson and Co Maidencots; EB Lishman, Barrasford and J and A McCulloch, Glentoo, respectively, to average £933 for nine.
Charollais shearlings averaged £532 with lambs at £420, having sold to £800 for a shearling from Jonathan Wales, Thackwood, Raughtonhead, purchased by S Griffiths, Maes Alyn.
