Heatheryhall achieved at hat-trick at the Beltex Scotland Club sale at Lanark, by selling the top priced ram for the third consecutive year.

The sale which saw averages well up on the year, albeit for fewer sold was this year topped at 4500gns by Alfie Taylor's Heatheryhall Famous Grouse from Thankerton, which headed home with David Cunningham, Walkerdyke, Strathaven. Full brother to the £10,000 Heatheryhall Fireman Sam, sold privately earlier in the year, this ram lamb is a son of the 30,000gns Buckles Dark Dawn and out of Heatheryhall Adele, a Quarrymount William Wallace daughter.

The Taylors were also in the money amongst the shearlings, selling Heatheryhall Extra for 2400gns to Andrew Mckay, Broughton Mains, Sorbie. Extra is a son of Quarrymount William Wallace, and out of Heatheryhall Wallflower.

Todhall Eddie from Andrew Wainwright sold for 3200gns Ref:RH170920261

Leading the shearling trade at 3200gns was Todhall Eddie from Fife breeder, Andrew Wainwright, Todhall, Dairsie, Cupar. He is sired by the 10,000gns Callacrag Bull's Eye, and out of Todhall Tinga – the dam of the 5000gns Todhall Beth. Forking out the cash for this tup was Jim Gibb, Toftcombs, Biggar.

First time consignors, Stuart and Johnny Hammond who run just seven ewes in their Tullylagan flock from Darvel, received 2200gns from G Scott, Lislafferty, Newton Stewart for the tup lamb Tullylagan Figo. He is a son of the 13,000gns Callacrag Wise Crack, which has bred sons to 15,000gns, and bred from Beechcross Demi purchased at the flock dispersal.

Aberdeenshire breeders, J and L Young, Muirton, Corse, Alford, went to 2100gns for a shearling from Brian Ryder, Newton Cottage, Annan Water, Moffat. Ryder Ezra is by Aviemore Casual and out of Ryder Anneka.

Vicky's Excaliber, bred by John Ferguson, but consigned by Alastair Maclean of the 45-ewe Tiree flock from the island made 2000gns to A Padkin, Drumcork, Thornhill, Dumfriesshire. He is by Murrays Crackajack, which goes back to the 8000gns Tiree Benchmark and out of Woodies Athens.

James Hamilton, Mid Shawtonhill, Chapelton, Strathaven, sold his best shearling at 1400gns to J Scott and Partners, Fearn, Ross-shire. Mid Shawtonhill Eclipse is a son of Woodies Cover Story and out of Tercrosset Whip Round.

John Guthrie, Cultburn, Muthill was the buyer of Corbelly Elecrton at 1350gns from Cameron Currie, Inamay, Dumfries. This big shearling is a son of Wern Deio, which was purchased at Carlisle as a lamb, and out of a Corbelly Ava ET ewe.

Father and son duo, Ronnie and Mike Black, Newton of Collessie, Ladybank, Fife, produced the goods with Collessie Foreman, attaining 1350gns. This ram lamb is sired by Todhall Derry and out of Bryngroes Waterfall, and was knocked down to W Thomson, Mid Tulloch, Darvel.

Topping the female trade at 1550gns was Kenny's Extra Special, from Kenny O'Connor, Carstairs Junction, Lanark. She is by Broxty Bruiser, and out of Callacrag Sugar, the 2015 Scottish National champion. She sold toAndrew and Ewan Lawrie, Grangehall, Pettinain, Lanark.
