Matt Simpson, Tardoes, Kilmarnock, sold the top three highest priced lots at a small but select sale of Irish and UK Dutch Spotted rams and females at Carlisle.

Sale leader at 2000gns was the gimmer, Tardoes Classy Maria, a Tardoes Bunnahabhain daughter out of Tardoes Bonte Maria, which sold served to Tardoes Claymore.

Tardoes Calla Lily, another gimmer by an imported Cavan sire, and again served to Claymore made 500gns.

Top price amongst the males was 450gns paid for Tardoes Duke, a ram lamb by Tardoes Bunnahabhain. All three sold across the Irish Sea with Messrs Campbell, Ballymena, Co Antrim.

Averages: Three shearling rams, £199.50; four ram lambs, £273.00.
