Texel lambs from S and A McCaig, Mount Pleasant topped Craig Wilson's sale of 1333 primestock, selling for £105 and 223.4p, to average 194.5p.

Cast ewes saw a top price of £103 for a Bluefaced Leicester from C McMillan, Garheugh, with Texel tups dominating the cast ram trade at £81 from J and A McCornick, Drumjargon.

Forfar

A small turnout of prime cattle forward for Lawrie and Symington's weekly sale saw bullocks (4) top at 256p for a 567kg Limousin from Nethermyres or £1490.40 for a 690kg Aberdeen-Angus from Wolflaw, to cash in at 238p.

Limousins dominated the heifer trade (14) averaging 240p and peaking to 253p for a 516kg entry from Nethermyres or £1459.92 for a 616kg animal from West Bog.

On the flip side, new season lambs (782) sold to a top of 246p for a pair of 45kg Beltex from Balbrydie and to £115 for a 54kg Texel from Hallhill (Kinneff), to balance out at 191p (-13p on the week).

Ewes (315) met a similar trade to the week previous, averaging £63 and led by Texels selling to £112 from Balbrydie.

Dumfries

C and D Auction Marts’ sale of 70 prime cattle reached a top price of 242p for Limousin cross heifers from J Jardine, Yett, while OTM's hit £1271.40 and 156p for a Limousin from Tregallon.

The 1110 lambs peaked at £110 for Texels from Kirkton of Crawford or 232p for more of the same from Abune the Brae, to level at 204.1p.

Texels were keenly bid for in the sale of cast ewes and rams, topping at £134 from Rashgill and £122 from Hillside respectively.

Huntly

Texel ewes Rinatin, Glenrinnes attracted the top price of £150 at United Auctions sale of 3166 prime sheep.

New season lambs (1712) sold to 202p for 43kg Continentals from Cragieview, Aberchirder or £105.50 for 54.5kg from Newton, Cabrach, to average 185p.

Stirling (Cale)

Prime heifers averaged 221p and sold to 250p for a Limousin from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill, Muthill or £1569 for a Charolais from M Orr and Sons, Penston, Macmerry at Caledonian Marts' weekly primestock sale.

Limousins were in demand in the bullocks, topping to 242p on two occasions for an entry from W Dandie and Sons, Learielaw, Broxburn and M Orr and Sons, Penston, Macmerry or £1671 for another of the same from A and T Grant, West Mains, Peat Inn, to average 212p.

Bulls were led by a Limousin from W and R Thomson, Cairnbog, Kilsyth selling for 208p and to £1635 for a Limousin from D and L Graham, Mains of Burnbank, Blairdrummond, to level at 185p.

With over 70% of OTM's selling for further keep, the sale cashed in at 128p and a top of 176p or £1360 was achieved for a Limousin from C Malone, Pitcairn, Cardenden.

Dairy cattle peaked to 122p and £830 from T Greer, Wharlawhill, Fossoway, to balance out at 94p, while cast males sold to £1380 and 144p for an Aberdeen-Angus from J Laird, South Quarter, Kingsbarns.

The firm also sold 2089 prime sheep, where Doune Farms, West Lundie topped the trade at £116 with a 50kg Beltex lamb or 234p for a 47kg Beltex from A McAllister, Blairmore, Balfron Station, to average 194p.

The 846 cast sheep sale saw ewes level at £98.26 and sell to £116 for Texels from DL Young, Finmont, Kinglassie, while cast rams peaked to £108 for Suffolks from D M Scott, West Kirkton, Auchterarder.

Wooler

Beltex from Annstead came out on top at Harrison and Hetherington's prime sheep trade with lambs selling to £127 twice and 282p, to level at 208p with an SQQ of 214p.

Annstead also dominated the cast sheep sale, with Beltex topping at £138, to average £89.

Stirling (UA)

Some 5853 head of prime sheep were sold through United Auctions, where lambs (4145) were topped by Lintibert with Beltex selling to £117 and 244p, to average 188.80p.

Ewes (1700) sold to a top price of £133 per head for Texels from Nether Pratis, while the ram trade was led by Texels from Lower Killernie at £85.

Thainstone

Prime heifers led Aberdeen and Northern Marts' primestock sale, selling to 237p for a 580kg Limousin cross and £1478.40 for a 640kg Limousin cross both from Auchmaliddie Mains, Maud, to average 213.7p.

Bullocks (12) cashed in at 205.7p and peaked to 223p for a 605kg Limousin from Whiteside, Tullynessle and £1418.55 for a 735kg Simmental cross from Berryhill, Sken.

Smallburn Farms, Pewlands sold a 620kg Charolais cross to top the young bulls at 181p or £1419.60 for a 840kg Charolais from Mormond Prop, New Pitsligo, to level at 164.3p.

Limousin crosses dominated the beef cattle trade, averaging 146.2p and selling to 191.6p for a 514kg entry from Burness, Firth and £1510 for a 904kg animal from Auchmaliddie Mains, Maud.

The firm also sold prime lambs to top at 233.9p and £138 for 59kg Beltex from Muirton, Corse, to cash in at 180p, while feeding ewes and rams reached £139 for Texels from Feurdies, Memsie.

Longtown

Prime lambs were eagerly bid for at C and D Auction Marts, where the sale topped at 278p for a pair of Beltex from G Mitchinson and Sons, High Greenhill, Kirkcambeck or £126 for Texels from J Elliot, Roxburgh Mains Kelso, to average 196.8p.

Dominating the sale of 4315 cast sheep was a pen of Texel ewes selling for £176 from R Osborne, Castlehill, Dumfries, with hill ewes topping at £84 for Cheviot ewes from JG Murray and Son, Branxholm Braes, Hawick.

A Texel from I and G Aitchison, The Side, Newcastleton secured top price in the ram section, realising £170.

St Boswell

At Harrison and Hetherington’s sale at St Boswells on Monday, bullocks (13) and heifers (36) averaged 232p and 230p respectively.

Clean cattle sold to £1335.14 from Thirlestane and 248p per kg from Pathhead, whilst cast entries peaked at £1463 and 179p from Easter Middleton.

Prime lambs (2226) met a firm trade having sold to £112 for a Texels from Symington Mains and 265.8p for Beltex from The Burrows, to level at 291p.

The 939 cast ewes cashed in at £66 having peaked to £120 for Texels from Headshaw.

Lanark

Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie sold Limousin heifers and bullocks to 258p twice and 250p respectively at Lawrie and Symington's weekly primestock sale.

Cast bulls sold to £1440 from Messrs Turnbull, Meadowend Farm, Clackmannan.

Lambs (3901) were topped at £121 for Texels from Cullen, Craighead and to 263p for Beltex from Clark, West Shawtonhill, to average 199p with an SQQ of 202p.

The 2736 ewes met a flying trade, peaking at £174 for Texels from Cullen, Craighead and to £67 for Blackface from Warnock, Dreva.

Carlisle

A Limousin cross steer from Messrs Bell, Hoddamtown, Lockerbie topped Harrison and Hetherington's sale of prime cattle at £1747.03 or 247.5p for a Limousin steer from Messrs Dent, Elm House, Appleby.

In the heifers, it was a Limousin that came out on top selling for £1498.63 from Messrs Dent, Elm House or 244.5p for a Limousin cross from the same home.

The sale of 2000 prime lambs levelled at 201p and topped at £124 on three occasions, firstly for Beltex lambs from A and A Little, Hollands, Carlisle and AG Dempster, Castlehill, Lockerbie and then for a pen of 11 Texels from JM Carruthers and Son, Grassgarth, Welton or 317.9p for Beltex from Messrs Little, Hollands.

Some 300 cast were keenly bid for, topping at £120 for a Texel ram from Messrs Harrington, Sleightholme Farm, while ewes reached a top of £104 for Texels from Parkside Farm.

Ayr

Just over 220 prime and cast cattle was sold through Craig Wilson Marts, where top price of the day came from the heifers at 250p or £1462.50 for a Limousin off North Boig, to level at 232.2p.

Limousins topped the bullock sale peaking to 240p off North Boig or £1591 for a Limousin off Carskerdo, to average 216.6p.

Young bulls reached a top price of £1340 or 148.1p for a Limousin off Gateside.

The firm also sold 1991 prime lambs to top at £100 for a pair of Beltex off James McGill, Altewan Farm, Maybole or 262.2p for a Beltex off Katie Burns, Glenside Farm, to cash in at 195.4p.

The 939 cast sheep peaked at £142 for Texel ewes from A Paton, Craig, while rams sold to £98 from W and T Nelson, High Kilphin.

Dingwall

Dingwall and Highland Marts had forward 12 prime cattle, where heifers averaged 210.8p and reached a top price of 225p for a 570kg Limousin cross from Bridgend Farm or £1460 for a 730kg Aberdeen-Angus cross, also from Bridgend Farm.

Inveruglas Farm, Kingussie dominated the prime lamb trade at 202.3p for a pen of 44kg Texel crosses and £90.50 for a pen of 51kg Texel crosses, to level at 183.9p.

Feeding sheep met a solid trade and sold to £110 for a Texel ewe from Kinnahaird Farm, Contin.

Castle Douglas

Some 1971 prime lambs sold to average 196.17p and sold to 256p and £110 for Beltex from Messrs Craig, Compstonend, Twynholm at Wallets Marts weekly sale. Texels from Shennanton topped the cast ewe trade at £121, whilst Wellhill secured top price in the rams at £80 for Texels.
