Strong demand for Aberdeen Angus females being dispersed from John Loftus' Weeton herd ensured a buoyant trade through United Auctions' Stirling, with a top price of 11,000gns paid for a heifer with calf at foot.

The event, staged alongside the Stirling Bull Sales, was topped by Weeton Laura. This ET calved heifer is bred from the Rawburn Elysium daughter, Haughton Laura, and sired by Blelack Duke. She sold with May-born bull calf, Weeton Landlord, by Haymount War Smith at foot and back in calf to the same bull for 11,000gns to Perthshire-based breeders Richard and Carol Rettie, who alongside their expanding cattle livery business also own the Retties Aberdeen Angus herd.

The couple also bought the second top priced lot at 6200gns, Blelack Blackbird, an April 2017-born cow which sold served to Weeton Topgun. The breeding behind this transaction includes Blelack Lord Blackcock onto the Blelack Egotist-sired Blelack Blackbird.

Top price for Ewan Brewis' reduction of the Eastfield herd from Kelso was 5200gns paid for the seven-year-old cow, Eastfield Jenny and her March-born heifer calf by Linton Gilbertines Elgin. Jenny is by Rawburn Edge and sold to Martin McCornick, Boreland, Kirkcowan, Newton Stewart.
