Simmental bulls from the Stronach family's Islavale herd from Berryleys, Keith, proved the star attraction at United Auctions' Stirling Bull Sales, producing the top two sellers at 14,000gns twice, as well as a string of other lead prices.

The first to make 14,000gns on a day that saw 52 Simmental bulls cash in at £5589 – up £411 on the year for 14 fewer – with a 64% clearance, was Islavale Kristoff. A son of Corskie Highland, out of the Delfur Casanova Ex91-classified cow, Islavale Ethel, he sold to Pitgaveny Farms, Elgin.

Later, Islavale Kai, an April 2019-born son of Curaheen Giant, made the same money selling to J and J Pattullo, Sandyford, Kirriemuir. His dam, Islavale Britney, an Ex94-classified cow, is by Popes Laird.

Another two bulls attracted five-figure prices, with Adrian Ivory's Strathisla Kinloch, a son of Atlow Dixon, making 11,500gns, to Neil and Stuart Barclay, Harestone, Insch, and Gordon Clark's Broombrae Kojac, by Lisglass Goldstar, made 10,000gns to David Lowry, Newsteadings, Cartland, Lanark.
