Pedigree Hereford females dispersed from Elizabeth Radcliffe's Kilvrough herd from Gower, Swansea, hit a top of 5500gns at Shrewsbury Auction mart.

The sale, which formed part of the Autumn Hereford Day, at Shrewsbury, was led by Dendor 1 Ruby 29 which sold to L and L Bowen, Nelson, Glamorgan buying for their Bowendu herd. This four-year-old bred by DE, ED and AL Jones, Caersws, Powys, was the 2018 Female of the Year and formed part of the winning Fitzhugh pair at the Royal Welsh Show, the same year. The breeding behind this classy female includes the former Sire of the Year, Solpoll 1 Gilbert, onto Dendor 1 Ruby.

Kilvrough 1 Myrtle, made 5200gns for the herd

Another show star, Kilvrough 1 Myrtle, made 5200gns selling to Russell and Angela Howells, Gower, Swansea. Reserve champion at the Royal Welsh, exhibitor-bred and part of the winning group of three at last year's show, this three-year-old is by Dorepoll 1 579 Knighthood, out of Dendor 1 Myrtle 12 and sold with five-month bull calf at foot.

Selling at same money was Kilvrough 1 Ruby, a 21-month-old purchased by PRJ and LR Vincent, Pulham Market, Norfolk. She is bred from the sale leader and sired by Bakgard 1 Keno, the 2017 Royal Welsh breed champion.

Kilvrough 1 Joyful 3, a two-year-old by Solpoll 1 Dynamite and out of another Dendor cow made 3800gns, in a two-way split to EL Lewis and son, Dilwyn, Herefordshire and PRJ and LR Vincent.

Making 3600gns was Kilvrough 1 Keepsake 3, which went home with R Lewis and Codd, Pembrokeshire. She is by the 2016 Royal Welsh and Royal Highland inter-breed champion, Normanton 1 Laertes.
