Lancashire Simmental breeders, Jimmy and Vicki Wood, came home in style from the breed's Premier Sale at Roscommon, having purchased the new record priced bull at €52,000 (£47,085), for their Popes herd, Preston.

The record-breaker, Clonagh Lucky Explorer, a 17-month-old bull from Garrett Behan, Ballyfin, Portlaoise, is a son of Manor Park Hansome son, out of Clonagh Dora The Explorer, which goes back to Banwy T-Rex.

The same home also sold the second top priced bull at €6800 (£6154) which was also purchased by the Woods.

Clonagh Latin Lover, another May 2019-born entry by Manor Park Hansome, is out of Clonagh Darling Eyes.

Topping the females at €11,500 (£10,411) was the two-month-old heifer, Lissadell Kyrstal Speci from Mullarkeys, Ballinful. She is a daughter of by Hillcrest Champion and out of Tawley Gretta.

The same home took €8000 (£7242) for another heifer, Lissadell Luxury VIP P. She is an April 2019-born heifer by Auroch Deuter PP.
