Harry Hodgson and son, David’s Wormanby autumn Holstein youngstock sale, at Carlisle, sold to a top of 5200gns for a 13-month-old heifer.

The sale from the family’s Burgh-by-Sands-based herd, which boasts 75 Ex and 112 VG-classified females, was topped by Wormanby Lambda Britney.

A Farnear Delta-Lambda daughter, she is bred from the VG86-2yr SP cow, Wormanby Fitz Britney, which is a daughter of the Ex91-2E SP, Clonbrick Britney Epic. Lambda Britney, whose third dam, Butz-Butler Gold Britney Ex91, is a full sister to the 2019 grand champion at the World Dairy Expo, sold to Emerald Isle Genetics, Co Limerick, Eire.

Also heading home to Eire in the same trailer at 4800gns was the 11-month-old heifer, Wormanby Crushtime Amyly. She is a daughter of Col DG Crushtime and bred from the 2017 Swiss Expo junior champion, Bel Doorman Zita.

Sam Wake, of the Blydale Holstein herd, is a partner in several animals at Wormanby and consigned some heifers that sold to 4400gns for Blydale Miss Cheif, a yearling heifer purchased by Simon Dowle, Knutsford, Cheshire.
