Lambs balanced out at £54.77, selling to £78 on two occasions firstly for Texel crosses from Cragganvallie, Kiltarlity, and for a pen of Beltex crosses from Wester Coillemore, Invergordon.

Cheviots dominated the ewes at £90 on two occasions coming from Rhannich, Edderton, and South Balkeith, Tain.

Feeding Sheep peaked at £150 on four occasions, firstly for two Cheviot rams from Culburnie Croft, Kiltarlity, and again for more of the same breed rams from Nottingham Mains, Latheron.

Younger calves reached £350 for a three-week-old British Blue bull calf from Messrs Eilbeck, Plumbland.

A smaller show of store lambs topped at £128 for a Texel cross ewe lamb from EM and J Holliday, Clea Mire.

Wether lambs topped at £118 for Beltex crosses from T and J Airey, New Grange, Dearham.

St Boswells

An exceptional trade was met at Harrison and Hetherington's annual Autumn sale of breeding with trade peaking at £3200 for an Aberdeen-Angus stock bull from Messrs Marshall, Camieston.

The same home sold a strong consignment of stock cows to top at £1650 for a pair of Aberdeen-Angus crosses, to average £1322.

A special mention for Lot 72 which raised £1400 and was very generously donated to the MacMillan Cancer Support.

Cows and calves peaked at £2000 on two occasions both coming from Messrs Dalton, Milrighall.

A Limousin cross heifer and heifer calf sold for £2550 for Messrs King, Gospelhall, whilst bulling heifers met a great trade with Simmental Luings reaching £1680 for a pen from Wauchope Farms.

Bullocks proved their worth at Craig Wilson's store cattle sale, selling to £1295 for a pair of Aberdeen-Angus crosses from Clevance, and to 268.2p per kg for a pen of Charolais from High Cairn.

Some 246 bullocks averaged 214.6p per kg, whilst 155 heifers levelled at 208.7p.

Heifers peaked at £1185 for Simmentals from Clevance, and to 256.1p for Limousins off Balluskie.

All classes sold dearer on the week among the 751 store and breeding sheep, where store lambs peaked at £80 for Suffolk from Balluski.

Bullocks led Aberdeen and Northern Marts' sale of 824 store cattle, peaking to 354.8p for a 248kg Limousin from Balmadies, Forfar and £1350 for a 716kg Aberdeen Angus cross from North House, Setter, to level at 225.2p.

Amongst the heifers (357) the sale levelled at 226.3p and sold to 344.8p for a 232kg Limousin cross from Balmadies and £1340 for a 682kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Upperton, Fyvie.

Bulls (13) achieved 226.4p for a 424kg Shorthorn from Sherriffseat, Aberchirder and £1100 twice firstly for a 610kg Charolais from Boatleys, Kemnay and for a 612kg Aberdeen Angus from Poolside Farm,

Auchindachy, while young and weaned calves (4) topped at £420.

Orkney consignors had forward 74 store cattle and 497 sheep where bullocks peaked to £1255 for a a pair of 578kg Simmentals from J and C Spence, Eastabist, Dounby and 253.3p for a 296kg Limousin from Berriedale Farms, South Ronaldsay.

Heifers achieved a top of of £1280 for a 614kg Charolais from J and C Spence, Eastabist and 263.8p for a pen of five 288kg Limousin’s from Berriedale Farms.

The firm's store and breeding sheep sale was topped at £180 for a pen of pure Texel gimmers from Kennachy, Forss, while island ewes (39) sold to £100 for a Texel ewe from Ervadale, Rousay.

Store lambs (525) averaged £58.12 and sold to £82.50 for a pen of Texel’s from Belniden, Strathdon, while island lambs (1,214) levelled at £62.29 and achieved £88 for a pen of Beltex’s from Strathore, Shapinsay.

A Limousin cross from Loanhead, Logie Coldstone, topped United Auctions sale of 880 weaned and suckled calves at 428.6p per kg or £1350.

Averages were well up on the year, with bullocks and heifers levelling at 250.9p per kg (up 25.4p per kg on the year) and 245.8p (up 25.1p per kg on the year) respectively.

Bullocks sold to 319.4p for Limousin crosses from Coleburn, Elgin, and to £1240 for Charolais crosses from Raws, Dufftown.

Texels from Pitprone, Glenkindie led the way among the 1644 store lambs and breeding sheep, selling for £83.50.

On Monday, C and D Auction Marts held their fortnightly sale of 558 store and breeding cattle, where trade peaked at £1230 for a Limousin bullock from Hillhead.

Among the pence per kg, a top price of 268.50p was achieved on two occasions, firstly for a British Blue bullock and a Hereford bullock both coming from Low Barness.

Limousins dominated the heifers at £1150 from Low Peninver, and again at 247.10p from Catslackburn.

Some 916 store lambs sold to £86 for Texels from Pilmuir, whilst Charollais peaked at £75 from Dunesslin.

On Monday, Caledonian Marts sold 366 store cattle and suckled calves, where bullocks and heifers balanced out at 218p per kg and 212p respectively.

Limousins dominated the bullocks at 283p per kg from J and J MacInnes, Culbhuirg, Isle of Iona, and to £1240 from A Galbraith, Upper Kinneil, Linlithgow.

More of the same breed led the way among the heifers selling to 245p from B Harper, Greenwells, Maddiston, and to £1110 from D Walker and Sons, Camregan, Girvan.

B Harper was again in the money when his young Limousin bull made 250p.

Topping the pence per kg was 340p for two 324kg Limousin crosses from I MacKinnon, Parkhouse.

It was the same home that were in the money among the bullocks, firstly hitting £1300 was a 683kg Charolais cross again from Heylipol, and to 322p for two 236kg Limousin crosses from I Brown, Barrapol.

Bullocks and heifers averaged 237.94p per kg (+31.49p up on the year) and 238.73p (+41.75p) respectively.
