48 cows and calved heifers, £2113; 33 served heifers, £1928;14 bulling heifers, £1207; 25 calves, £1420; 121 Davlea animals, £1753.

Almost 3000 online bidders were 'at' Max Davies’ Davlea Holstein dispersal sale held by Norton and Brooksbank, where a top price of 6500gns was achieved for Davlea Abbott Pledge VG86, with the sale averaging £1753.

The leading bid came for a two-year-old fresh heifer which is a daughter of Willsbro Abbott – descended from the noted Ada family that provided top price at the recent sale for Wills Brothers. She headed home with M O’Sullivan, Desmond.

Next in the trade stakes at 5000gns was Davlea Octane Pledge 3 ET – a yearling sister to the successful show cow, Davlea Braxton Pledge Ex91. She joins the Bartonwood herd owned by JS Bird and Son, at Shute.

Gareth Thomas, Gelliddu, Carmarthen, chose to invest in Davlea Control Shadow at 3200gns. Due in January, this female is bred from 12 generations of Ex/VG cows and has two VG87 two-year-old sisters retained at home.

Matching the 3200gns bid was another well bred calf in the form of the six-month-old Davlea Sidekick Little. Purchased by Martin O’Sullivan, she is bred from four generations of top quality cows and is closely related to the 2018 Madison grand champion, Jacobs Lauthority Loana Ex97.
