Glencoe Phoenix and Fymore Prince both hit the top ceiling of 6200gns at the Charolais breed sale staged at Dungannon Mart, where a 67% clearance rate was achieved.

First to go under the hammer for that was Glencoe Phoenix, from P and V McDonald, Seavers Road, Ballinliss, Killeavy, Newry. This April, 2019-born bull is by Indurain and out of Glencoe Magic, a daughter of Plexus. This lad was purchased by D Kennedy, Tullynagin Road, Armagh.

Also at 6200gns was the 16-month-old bull, Fymore Prince, from S McCaughey, Derryclooney Road, Augher, Co Tyrone. A son of Killimor In Time, his dam, Fymore Jewel, is a daughter of the 18,000gns Fury Action. This bull sold to R Ward, Slievebane Road, Omagh.

Will Short, of Wood Park, Omagh, received the second top price of the day at 4300gns among the bulls with Woodpark Pistol. This 15-month-old bull was fully parent verified to Blelack Marmaduke and Woodpark Jessie J, a daughter of Deeside Gulliver, which is in the top 1% for calving ease direct. Pistol sold to A Semple, Magheramore Road, Co Londonderry.

Selling at 4000gns was Killadeas Paul, bred and sold by S and D Bothwell, St Angelo, Ballinamallard, Co Fermanagh. An April, 2019-born bull, sired by the 11,000gns Battleford Laser. His dam, Killadeas Ginny, is by the 16,000gns Blackford Dynamite. Taking this boy home was C Clarke, Chapel Road, Co Armagh.

Not far behind, on 3900gns, was Carnview Phoenix, from JJ McGuigan, Slaughtneil Road, Maghera, Co Londonderry. He is by the famous Davally Illusion and out of Balbithan Georgia, a daughter of the 10,000gns Chunal Dougie. This 18-month-old bull was purchased by P Mullan, Liscall Road, Co Londonderry.

Tullygarley Phantom made his mark at 3700gns for John Currie, Whitesides Road, Ballymena, Co Antrim.This June, 2019-born youngster is sired by the 14,000gns Westcarse Houdini and out of Tullygarley Indie, a daughter of Tullygarley Gordon. He left the ring having been knocked down to J McHenry, Knockmore House, Stranocum.

Leading the way among the females at 4600gns was Bessiebell Olympic from J Smyth

Topping the days trade for the females was Bessiebell Olympic, from J Smyth, Milltown Road, Magheracolton, Newtownstewart, Co Tyrone. This March, 2018-born, in-calf heifer peaked at 4600gns and was purchased by Dreamteam Charolais, Co Donegal. She is a daughter of Goldies Eddy and out of Bessiebell Incredible, a Goldies Unbeatable daughter.

Two followed at 4300gns. First was Killadeas Ouch, an in-calf heifer from S and D Bothwell, St Angelo, Ballinamallard, Co Fermanagh. Her sire is the 11,000gns Battleford Laser and she’s out of Killadeas Imogen, a daughter of the 16,000gns Blackford Dynamite. She sold to S Kingham of Cullaville, Co Monaghan.

On the same money was Brogher Oelly, a PD’d in-calf heifer from T Phair, Killybracken Road, Bellanaleck, Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh. She is by Balbithan Vespasian and out of Brogher Elly, a daughter of Private. This heifer was purchased by B Baxter, Keel Park, Co Fermanagh.
