Some 1396 prime lambs sold to average 204.8p per kg at Craig Wilson's sale, which peaked at £106 for Beltex from R Templeton and Co, Carslae, and to 235p for a Texel from G Hurcomb, Bankhead.

Cast sheep met a firm trade peaking at £105 for a Suffolk from R and D Wilson, High Barness and Mules selling to £83 from F Allison, Glenstables.

Cheviots topped the tups, securing a top of £75 from Murrayton Farms, Culreoch.

Forfar

Heifers dominated Lawrie and Symington's weekly primestock sale, topping at 260p per kg and £1596.40 for a 614kg British Blue from West Bog, to level at 232p.

Limousins from Nethermyres led the bullocks at 238p for a 623kg animal or £1532.70 for a 655kg similar beast, to cash in at 229p.

The firm also sold 701 prime lambs to average 202p and reached 240p for a pen of 4kg Beltex from Scobshaugh and to £112 for a pen of 50kg Texels from Leoch.

In the sale of cast sheep, £124 was achieved for Texels from Mains of Dalrulzion.

Dumfries

A small entry of 10 prime cattle were forward at C and D Auction Marts' sale, where Limousin cross heifers attained 244p per kg from J Jardine, Yett, while the sale of 103 OTM cows was led by a Shorthorn at £1387 and 190p from Skipmyre.

The 1137 prime lambs topped at £110 for Texels from Shangan, and to 263p for more of the same from Woodhead, to balance out at 216.9p.

Texel from Belridding dominated the cast ewe sale at £120.

Huntly

United Auctions sold 2140 prime sheep, where new season lambs averaged 196.54p per kg selling to 209p for 44kg Texels from Rinnagailloch, Strathdon, and for 44.8kg Beltex crosses from Kinnermit, Turriff or to £109 for 56kg Charollais from Laighmuir, Wardhouse.

Ewes sold to a top of £160 for Texels from Dunscroft, Huntly.

Stirling (Cale)

A cracking sale of prime cattle was had at Caledonian Marts, where heifers were led by Limousins attaining 252p per kg for an entry from W Dandie and Sons, Learielaw, Broxburn or £1436 for another of the same from T Johnston, Annfield, Dunfermline, to level at 220p per kg.

Bullocks averaged 227p and sold to 248p for a Limousin from W and D Moir, Home Farm, Cairness and to £1549 for another Limousin again from the Moir Brothers.

Also forward were 26 young calves and stirks, led by G Aitken, Wester Whitefield, Dunfermline with a British Blue heifer stirk at £600.

Some 1014 lambs averaged 193p with Doune Farms leading the trade was a 47kg Beltex at £109 or to 232p for a pen of Texels from RS Kinloch, Wester Coledrain, Kinross and Doune Farms for a 47kg Beltex.

Wooler

Harrison and Hetherington's primestock sale, saw 1346 lambs cash in at 223p per kg, and was led by Beltex from Annstead, selling to £120.

More of the same breed from Twizell, topped the pence per kg section at 287p.

Topping the sale of cast ewes was a pen of three Texels which attained £162 from B Henderson, South Carter Moor.

Stirling (UA)

Just over 7000 head of prime sheep were sold through United Auctions, where lambs (5567) were topped at £119 and 267p per kg for Beltex from Berrydyke, to average 205.30p per kg.

Ewes (1740) sold to £120 per head for Texels from Broadshean, while the ram trade was led by Cheviots from Meadowbank at £103.

Thainstone

A flying trade was had at Aberdeen and Northern Marts' primestock sale, where bullocks averaged 203.5p per kg and sold to 219p per kg for a 590kg Limousin cross from Hillside, Fetternear, and to £1348.20 for a 630kg Limousin cross from Kirkhill, Gartly.

Heifers cashed in at 214.2p and attained 238p for a 590kg Limousin cross from Stoneyhill, Keith-Hall and to £1440.50 for a 670kg Charolais cross from Clashendamer, Fordyce.

The sale of 2011 new season lambs averaged 195.9p per kg and sold to 262.5p for 40kg Beltex from Nether Savoch, Longside, and £128 for 61kg Charollais cross from Mosshead, Whitehouse.

A top of £161 was paid for Texels from West Knock, Mintlaw to top the feeding ewes an rams trade.

Longtown

At C and D Auction Marts’ sale the 3931 prime lambs topped at 293p per kg for a pen of Beltex lambs from G and W Halliday, Crawthat, Lockerbie, and to £140 on two separate occasions for Texel lambs firstly from RK Springett, Ochreland, Hexham and secondly from J Pirie, Machrihanish, Campbeltown, to average 207.3p per kg.

A large entry of 4054 cast ewes and rams sold well, topping at £178 for Texel ewes from JH and SM Anderson, Cloy Farm, Fortose, while cast rams achieved £142 for Suffolks from Messrs Hewson, Burgh Head, Carlisle.

St Boswell

At Harrison and Hetherington’s sale at St Boswells on Monday, bullocks (17) and heifers (23) averaged 214p per kg and 233p respectively.

Clean cattle sold to £1302.48 and 243p from Greenknowe, whilst cast entries peaked at £1636.58 from Upper Huntlywood.

Prime lambs (1877) sold to £115 and 274.4p for Beltex from Crookston, to level at 205p, while the 491 cast ewes cashed in at £70.95 having peaked at £157 for Texels from RS Green, The Craggs.

Lanark

Some 53 bullocks and heifers and 101 cast cows were forward for Lawrie and Symington’s sale, on Monday.

Heifers sold to 256p per kg twice from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie, and to £1638 from the same home.

Bullocks sold to 246p from Messrs Pettigrew, Faskine Farm, Airdrie.

Lambs (5270) were topped at £120 for Texels from Cullen, Craighead and to 285p for Beltex from Padkin, Drumcork, to cash in at 203.8p.

The 2764 ewes were reached £165 for Texels from Warnock, Sandilands and to £68 for Blackface from Firm of Shawhead.

Carlisle

A smaller show of only 36 prime steers and heifers were forward for Harrison and Hetherington's primestock sale where Messrs Crichton, Loughrigg, Egremont dominated the bullocks with a Limousin cross achieving £1779.27 or 243.50 per kg for a Limousin cross from Messrs Storey, Limestone Cottage.

Heifers peaked at £1731.62 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Crichton, Loughrigg and to 237.50p paid for Limousin crosses from Lowergate.

Some 4022 prime lambs averaged 216p and topped at £133 for a Beltex cross from Adam and Amy Bell, Thethwaite, and to 315.4p for more Beltex this time from ML and LB Bell, WInterhope, Lockerbie.

Texels dominated the cast sheep sale at £140 from Nursery Road.

Ayr

At Craig Wilson's weekly primestock sale, heifers averaged 228.3p and peaked at 250p per kg and £1425 for a Limousin cross from Chris Smith, North Boig.

The firm also sold 2206 prime lambs to average 206.1p with HS Watson and Co, Laigh Tarbeg leading the sale with a Texel making £108 or 238.1p for a pair of Beltex off J Gatherer, Hill of Ochiltree.

The sale of 724 cast sheep was dominated by a pen of Texel cross ewes from Messrs Cousar, Howcommon which sold for £137.50, while cast tups achieved £104 for a Charolais from J Kennedy, Lyonston.

Dingwall

Dingwall and Highland Marts sold 15 prime cattle, where bullocks averaged 210.3p per kg and sold to 211p per kg for a 585kg Simmental cross and to £1382.05 for a 655kg Limousin cross both from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall.

Prime heifers cashed in at 207.6p and attained 224p for a 575kg Limousin cross from Bridgend, and to £1424.25 for a 675kg Limousin cross from the same home.

New season lambs reached a top of 204.5p for a pen of 44.5kg Texel crosses from Lochdhu, Nairn, and to £93 for a pen of 53kg Texel crosses from Balintore Farms, Fearn and for a pen of 46.5kg Suffolk crosses from Torgorm, Conon Bridge, to level at 189.4p.

Feeding sheep sold to £147 for a Texel ewe from Woodside, Muir of Tarradale.
