Welsh breeder, auctioneer and chartered surveyor, Melfyn Williams has been elected president of the North Country Cheviot Sheep Society.
Mr Williams from Brynsiencyn, Anglesey, was elected at the society's 75th AGM, which was staged in a virtual format.
Melfyn manages the Pengroes flock of park and hill-type North Country Cheviots with assistance from his father John Huw, who established the flock in 1980.
Newly elected vice-president of the society, which boasts 500+ strong membership, is Robert MacDonald of the Castle Grant flock of hill-type North Country Cheviots. His flock was established in 1982 on the Isle of Skye, but later moved with him to Grantown-on-Spey in 1997, where he now lives.
Stepping down as president, Caithness breeder, George Cormack, Wester, said the past year had been extremely difficult to show case the breed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He was however, most grateful to the auction companies and their staff who had managed to balance the safety of their staff, buyers and vendors while still maintaining a live sale system.
The society also launched its first new mobile version of its website, which is hoped will encourage more people to look and learn what they can about the breed's history, different types and the staff involved – www.nc-cheviot.co.uk.
