A Simmental heifer with bull calf sold achieved £3885 at the inaugural online sale of multi-breed pedigree and non-pedigree females staged at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ Thainstone centre.

With 26 animals finding new homes, the sale leader, Chestermann Data Sage 3, came from N and N Gwynne, Castlewigg, Whithorn. A September, 2018-born heifer sired by Overhill House Data 12, and sold in calf serviced by Sterling Empire, to B Arris, Newton View, Lyne of Skene, Westhill.

Next best at £3780 was a Limousin cow and calf from Bill and Garry Patterson, Upper Forgie, Keith. The seven-year-old, Aultside Ivy, is a daughter of Wilodge Cerberus, and is scanned in calf to Goldies Northstar. Taking this outfit home was E and M Greenlaw, Milton Farm, Glenbuchat.

The Aberdeen-Angus section peaked at £3675 for the maiden heifer, Tonley Ester V661 from Neil and Mark Wattie, Mains of Tonley, Alford. She now travels down to Wales with DE, ED and AL Jones, Gwastadcoed, Powys. A daughter of Tonley Pato, out of a previous Tonley Ester S325.
