Heatheryhall continued on its winning ways by securing the top price for the second consecutive year at the Beltex Scotland Club sale of in-lamb females and ewe lambs at Lawrie and Symington’s Lanark centre, when Heatheryhall Erin hit 2200gns.

Owner Alfie Taylor, Thankerton, Biggar, sold five gimmers to cash in at £1407. The pen leader is by Aviemore Dane Hill, out of the Quarrymount William Wallace daughter, Heatheryhall Calamity Jane, and sold scanned with a pair of lambs to the 30,000gns Buckles Dark Dawn.

She caught the eye of Billy Goodfellow and headed to Roberton, Biggar, to join his Roberton flock.

Heatheryhall Eleanor received 1300gns from Nick Gill and Kayley Kennedy’s Nikay flock, in the Lake District. She is another by the Aviemore sire and out of a William Wallace daughter, this time in the shape of Heatheryhall Cheeky. She sold in lamb due a single to Dark Dawn.

The best from Andrew Baillie hit the second top in the sale of 2000gns when his Callacrag Evelyn sold to Michael Russell’s Lamington flock, from near Biggar. She is a daughter of the 10,000gns Clary Desperado, and out of the Quarrymount William Wallace daughter, Callacrag Celine.

Scanned with a pair to Mortons Cheeky Boy, she sold with a recipient ewe carrying a Callacrag Celine cross Lamington Fandango embryo as luckpenny.

Robert and James Hamilton’s Shawtonhill and Mid Shawtonhill flocks from Chapelton, Strathaven, also had a good day with their pen peaking at 1600gns and 1300gns, both of which sold to the Alderson family for their Alderson’s flock, near Barrowford, Lancashire.

Dearest of the two, Shawtonhill Elsa, a Heatheryhall Batman daughter bred from the Woodies Ringleader-sired Corstane Amy, sold carrying a pair of lambs to Tiree Donegal.

That was followed by another by the Heatheryhall Batman sire and in lamb to Tiree Donegal, this time scanned with triplets. The 1300gns Mid Shawtonhill Ella is out of Shawtonhill Claire, by Padkin Sugar Daddy.

Ewe lambs peaked at 800gns when Ian Reid’s Osprey Frostie from near Methven, Perth, sold to Gordon and Lynsey Carroll. Bred from the Osprey Adam-sired Osprey Dribble, Frostie’s sire is Kingledores Commander.
