The Classy Lassies sale of Bluefaced Leicesters females on Monday staged at Borderway Mart witnessed a top price of 9000gns.

The Wight family's Midlock flock based at Crawford led the way with their pen leader, which was knocked down to Jamie Pirie of the Blarnavaid flock, Drymen. This Asby Hall M2 daughter out of the flock's favourite flushing ewe goes back to Hewgill J6.

Next in the trade stakes and selling two Hewgill M39 daughters at 8500gns was the Lord family, West Dowgill, North Sainmore, Kirby Stephen.

The pen leader is backed by more home-bred genetics being out of a Hewgill dam, which is sired by Hewgill G49. This ewe hogg headed home with Martin Allan from Greenhow, Dufton.

Neil Laing, Thankerton, Biggar, was the final bidder behind the latter, being another out of a home-bred dam, this time by Hewgill F52.

Averages: 21 gimmers, £890.31; 40 ewe hoggs, £1859.81.
