Some 779 prime hoggs sold through Craig Wilson Marts to average 256.3p per kg with a top price of £128 paid for Texels from D Manson , Auchleach and for Suffolks from J Cannon, Clauchrie.

Top per kg was 297.5p for Beltex from F Allison, Glenstables.

The 411 Blackfaces cashed in at 252.5p having sold to £118 from P McMillan, Glenchamber or 268.3p from J and T Scott, Garchew.

Cast sheep attained £128 for a Dutch Texel tup from H and W McKie, High Threave, with ewes to £125 for Beltex from AH and HA Brown, Millaires.

Forfar

Lawrie and Symington had forward 41 prime cattle and 871 prime and cast sheep where 11 bullocks sold to 270p and £1706.40 for a 632kg Limousin from the Gask, to average 241.5p per kg.

Heifers were topped at 264p for a 553kg Limousin from Nethermyres or £1522.74 for a 619kg Limousin from the Gask, to cash in at 240p.

Some 681 prime hoggs attained £140 for a 45kg Beltex and a 48kg Beltex both from Balbrydie or 311p per for a 45kg Beltex also from Balbrydie.

Fallaw led the cast ewe and ram trade, at £109 with a Texel.

Dumfries

At C and D Auction Marts’ sale, cattle sold to 245p per kg for a Limousin heifer from J Jardine, Yett, while OTM's achieved £1515.90 or 186p for a Simmental from Maxwellbank.

The 680 hoggs reached £130 for Texels from West Skelston or 297p for more of the same from Pendicle, to balance out at 274.1p.

Texels led the sale of cast sheep at £105 for a ewe from Barend, while rams peaked to £124 from Craigdarroch.

Huntly

United Auctions’ sale of 2071 prime sheep, saw 1505 old season lambs average 265.53p per kg, selling to 293p for 35kg Texels from Milestone House, Rosehearty and to £126 for 45.4kg Beltex from Inshes, Inverness and for 57kg Mules from Sinsharnie, Huntly.

Ewes sold to £140 for Texels from Buckies, Thurso.

Stirling (Cale)

Trade remained buoyant at Caledonian Marts' sale of 61 clean cattle and 98 OTMs, where bullocks averaged 224p per kg having sold to 255p for a Limousin from A Kennedy and Sons, Seggarsdean, Haddington or £1620 for another of the same from W Dandie, Learielaw, Broxburn.

Heifers which levelled at 237p, were topped at ?????? for a Limousin from Learielaw, or to 260p on two occasions both from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill, Muthill.

Bulls hit 225p for a Limousin from Dalchirla Farms, Muthill and to £1529 for a Simmental from the same home.

On Tuesday, 1482 prime sheep were sold and included an annual show and sale of Blackface hoggs.

Judge, Willie Shearer, found his champions in the form of 45kg Blackfaces from C Little, East Bracklin, Callander, which later sold for £119 or 265p per kg.

Remony, Aberfeldy, lifted the reserve with 45.4kg hoggs that made £115.50 or 254p.

Outwith the show, a top price of £150 was attained for Texels from S and JE Andrew, Letter, Dunkeld and St Mungo’s, West Lundie, Doune. Top price per kg at 354p, was a pen of Texels from WM Bell and Son, Craigend, Perth. The overall average was 265.5p per kg.

The 489 cast sheep averaged £105.20 and sold to £141 for Texels from East Bracklin, while rams were topped at £110 for Texels from Letter.

Wooler

Harrison and Hetherington's sale of 475 hoggs and 208 cast sheep, was topped at £146 by Texels from South Rennington or 344p per kg for Beltex from The Hagg, to average 288p.

Cast sheep sold to £145 for a Beltex from P Guiry and Son, Glanton Town Farm.

Stirling (UA)

Some 5648 head of prime sheep sold through United Auctions, saw 4466 hoggs sell to £157 on four occasions for Beltex from Doune Farms, Harviesmailing, Cuiltburn and Isle Cottage, or 371p per kg for Texels from Kincragie. The sale averaged 265.72p.

Ewes (1182) sold to £158 for Texels from Hill of Errol, while a Beltex from Chalmerstone led the rams at £130.

Thainstone

Heifers led Aberdeen and Northern Marts' sale of 38 prime cattle, averaging 221.9p from top prices of 234p for a 580kg Limousin from Standingstones, Echt and £1514.50 for a 650kg Limousin cross from Cottown, Drumblade.

Bullocks averaged 159.8p having sold to 175p for a 700kg Limousin and £1472.50 for a 950kg entry both from Netherton of Inverveddie, Peterhead.

Nine young bulls cashed in at 173.6p having reached a top price of 191p for a 700kg Limousin from Auchenzeoch, Fordoun and for a 710kg Aberdeen Angus from Perkhill House, Lumphanan or to £1378.30 for a 895kg Aberdeen Angus from Milton of Collieston, Ellon.

Also sold were 2816 old season lambs which averaged 253p per kg with a top at 300p for 36kg Beltex from Ard Na Moy, Glassel and £139 for 62kg Texels from Goval, Dyce .

The 432 feeding sheep sold to £131 for Suffolks from Tillyeve, Udny.

Longtown

At C and D Auction Marts' weekly sale, 4314 prime hoggs were topped at 373p per kg for Beltex from RN Scott, West Miklethwaite, Wigton or to £160 for Texels from GG and MA Harrison, Aldermanseat, Gretna, to average 265.5p.

The 2920 ewes were led by a pure Texel at £184 from Marygate, while rams sold to £150 for a Texel from W and JW Mews, Glendue, Hexham.

St Boswell

At Harrison and Hetherington’s sale on Monday, bullocks and heifers averaged 223p and 230p respectively, having sold to £1543.30 and 253p from Bee Edge.

Cast entries peaked at £1386.46 from Rumbletonlaw and to 220p per kg from Shaws.

Prime hoggs (1041) sold to £153 for Texels from Headshaw and 313.8p for Beltex from Halidean Mill, to level at 260.6p per kg.

The 361 cast ewes cashed in at £82.63 having peaked to £147 for Texels from Over Whitlaw.

Lanark

Some 35 clean and 99 cast cattle were forward for Lawrie and Symington’s sale, where heifers sold to 272p for a Limousin from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie or to £1830 for another of the same from Messrs Wainwright, Todhall, Cupar.

Bullocks sold to 252p and £1607 for a Limousin Messrs Barrie, Howburn Farm, Biggar.

The 2837 prime hoggs, sold to £154 and 350p for Texels from Messrs Struthers, Collielaw, to cash in at 270p with an SQQ of 273.5p.

The 2125 cast sheep were topped at £186 for Texels from Messrs Campbell, Strawfrank, while rams attained £170 for Texels from Hartside.

Carlisle

Limousins topped Harrison and Hetherington's where a bullock from Messrs Bowe, Bothel Parks, Wigton made £1742 or 236.5p per kg

Heifers were topped at £1663.88 from Messrs Douglas, Effledge, Hawick, while Messrs McKelvey, Burnside, Lockerbie, sold a Limousin cross at 265.5p per kg.

Prime hoggs averaged 278p per kg having sold to £157 for Texels from Messrs Toppin, Basco Dyke, Penrith or to 367.5p per kg for Beltex from A and A Little, Hollands, Penton.

Cast sheep attained £142 for a Texel ewe from Messrs Musgrave, Cardew Hall.

Ayr

Limousins topped Craig Wilson Marts' sale where heifers averaged 233.4p having sold to 253p per kg for a cross from North Boig or to £1512.50 for another from Girvan Mains.

On Monday, 1513 prime hoggs sold to £136 for Beltex from Knockgerran or to 310p for a Blue Texel from Woodhill, to average 271.4p per kg.

The 532 cast sheep peaked at £152 for a Charollais from J Kennedy, Lyonston while tups sold to £126 for a Texel from Messrs Wilson, Balluskie.

Dingwall

Dingwall and Highland Marts sold 13 cattle where heifers averaged 212.7p per kg, selling to 229p for a 585kg Limousin cross from Ashley, North Kessock and £1465.90 for a 685kg Limousin cross also from the same home.

The 843 old season lambs cashed in at 266.5p and peaked at 291.8p for 42.5kg Beltex crosses from Torgorm, Conon Bridge and £125 for 46.5kg Beltex crosses from Greenlands, Arabella.

Feeding sheep sold to £114 for a Texel ram from Wester Cairnglass, Gollanfield.
