The pre-sale champion, a 41kg Beltex cross Texel lamb lifted the top honours in the sale ring when selling for £222 or 541p per kg at Bentham Auction Mart’s sale of 98 spring lambs, for the Jenkinson family, Stalmine.
The same home sold their second place, a 40kg lamb for £184.
The whole sale managed to achieve an overall average of 333.7p and a SQQ of 354.4p.
A pure bred Suffolk lamb from GI Richmond, Goosnargh, took first place in the native class realising £158 which sold to the judge, Andrew Atkinson.
Other notable native bred lambs included a pen of Hampshires weighing 41kg from Gary Atkinson, Cantsfield, which made £160.
