A top call of 6200gns was paid for Knowstone Ferdinand 4th at the sale of Devon cattle at Sedgemoor Auction Centre, for father and son duo, John and Richard Stanbury, South Molton, Devon.

This March 2019-born son of Yeomadon Ferdinand 2nd is out of the Barton Elite sired, Knowstone Clare 23rd. Taking him home was Bowldon Farms, Tetbury, Glos.

Knowstone Ferdinand 2nd also made his mark for the same home when selling for 5500gns to KH May and Partners, Exeter, Devon. This April 2019-born bull is by the same sire and this time out of Knowstone Clare 24th.

A trio of bulls then realised 3000gns, the first being the pre-sale champion, picked out by judge, Becky Hurd of the Whitefield herd, in the form of Exmoor Corporal from Angela Poad, Minehead, Somerset.

He is a similarly aged bull as mentioned, being a son of Forde Abbey Aesop and out of Colesden Curly 22nd, a daughter of Colesden Samuel. The hammer fell to AW and SA Meikle, South Molton, Devon, on this one.

Sharing that price tag was Colleton Umpire from Simon and Grania Phillips, Chulmleigh, Devon. Home bred on both sides, this March 2019-born bull is by Colleton Pilgrim, an EX92 classified sire and is out of a Colleton-bred daughter of Tivington Kinsman. Taking this one home was Paradise Farms, Wimborne, Dorset.

Next at 3000gns was Eastyard Duke, an April 2019-born bull from M Cowell, Chulmleigh, Devon, which stayed in Devon with Brown and Beer, Bideford. He is sired by Clannaborough Raider, with the dam, Eastyard Camelia 17th, being a daughter of Eastyard Larkspur.

The oldest bull on the day, Tilbrook Knock Back, from Gavin Hunter, Huntingdon, Cambs, made 2600gns. He is a son of Tilbrook Knock Knock and out of a home-bred Tilbrook Kiwi daughter. Securing this one was J Limbrick, Sherborne, Glos.

Taking the double in the show ring by securing the female championship was Exmoor Diana 6th from Angela Poad. This April 2019-born Barton Devon Air 2nd daughter, is out of an Eastyard-bred female by Stonegrove Larkspur. She later sold for 1700gns to Stephen Sparrow, Helston, Cornwall.
