The annual Easter show and sale of ewes with lambs at foot, held at Skipton Auction Mart, witnessed Thomas Boothman's, Linton Hall Farm, Linton, pen of home-bred Texel gimmers with twin lambs at foot secure the championship for a seventh consecutive year, before selling for £390 per outfit.

Another pen of the same from Mr Boothman finished runners-up and attained £380.

The mart also held the sale of 2766 prime sheep, where trade averaged 402p per kg for 40 spring lambs and peaked at £192 or 426p for 45kg Charollais from Ingleton’s Robert Towers.

Some 2294 prime hoggs, cashed in at 316p and topped at £196 or 445p for 44kg Beltex from Stuart Forshaw in Longridge.

The monthly prime hogg show witnessed first prize in the continental cross class go to five 41kg lambs from Trawden’s Hayley Baines, which later sold for £174.
