Scottish buyers were at the full front at the Simmental sale at Dungannon Farmers’ Mart, when Stewart Fraser, Aughnarrow, Ballindalloch, Banffshire, purchased the top lot, Ashland Lad at 5600gns.

This 15-month-old bull from father and son duo, Pat and Frank Kelly from Tempo, County Fermanagh, is a son of Raceview King, and out of a home-bred Carnkern Titan daughter, Ashland Candice Terona 2nd.

Also selling for export to Scotland with Lachlan Quarm for the Annick herd, Holehouse, Annick Estate, Irvine, Ayrshire, was the 4100gns Kilbride Farm Karl from Billy Robson OBE, and sons ,Michael and Norman, Doagh, Ballyclare.

Born in October 2019, this polled bull was sired by Curaheen Gunshot, and bred from the Sneumgaard Imperator daughter Kilbride Farm Fanni 601.

Three lots sold for 3000gns each, first to do so was the June 2019 bull, Bridgewater Farm Kaymer, from Nigel Glasgow, Cookstown. A Delfur Decider son, he was bred from Ranfurly Lady Diana 25th, and now heads home with Brian Murphy from Portadown.

Nigel Glasgow’s Bridgewater Farm Kilroy sold for 3000gns to William Nixon, Ballynahinch. This September 2019 entry was sired by Islavale Frontier, and bred from the Raceview King daughter Ranfurly Beauty 6th.

Also securing a bid of 3000gns was the September 2019 Rehall Karl from William and Keith Stubbs, Irvinestown. He is sired by the 8500gns Islavale Cracker, out of Rehall Flower. Buyers were Hamilton and Matthew Cleland, Legamaddy, Downpatrick.

A small entry of females peaked at 1900gns, for November 2019 heifer, Drumsamney Caramel’s Belle from Jonathan Henderson, Desertmartin. She is a daughter of Shacon Hannibal, and out of Drumsamney Amy’s Caramel.
