A Bridgeview Suffolk gimmer led the trade at C and D Auction Marts’ annual Summer Sale of pedigree breeding sheep at Longtown on Monday evening, when attracting the top price of 9500gns.

Sale leader was a gimmer from Welsh breeder, Paul Delves’ Bridgeview flock from Churchstoke, Powys, purchased by Charlie Boden of the Sportsmans flock from Stockport. She is a daughter of Frongoy Firenze and out of a Strathbogie Sirius sired-ewe.

Second top price amongst the Suffolks was 2100gns for a gimmer from Iain and Judith Barbour’s, Solwaybank flock from Annan. Their Crewelands Champion daughter out of a Lakeview Harbinger-sired ewe, sold to Joao Guilherme, Amadora, Portugal.

Kevin Gunn, Caithness, bought the top priced Suffolk ram lamb at 520gns from CM Nelson, Rosepark, Kelso.

Texels peaked at 3000gns for a gimmer from Hazel Laughton’s Shawton flock from Chapelton, Strathaven. She is by Garngour Alabama, out of a ewe by Castlecairn Vinney, and sold to Dumfriesshire breeder, Robert Fleming, Hillhead, Kirkpatrick Fleming.

An unregistered gimmer from the same home achieved 2000gns selling to Norman and David Douglas, Catslackburn, Yarrow. She is by Douganhill Young Gun.

Robert Cockburn’s Knap flock from Errol, Perthshire, sold to 1200gns for a daughter of Canllefaes Bright Spark, to Jim Gibb, Toftcombs.

Top price amongst the Beltex was 520gns paid for a gimmer from John Barclay’s Beachy flock from Maybole.
