Some 351 animals changed hands at the Borderway Monthly Dairy Day sale at Carlisle, where trade peaked at £2350.

Sale leader was a Holstein cross Montbeliarde fresh heifer from the Workman family, Beeches, Carlisle, purchased by Messrs Dart and Son, Flothers, Slaley, Hexham.

Topping the pedigree Holsteins at £2300 was Kirtlevale Ruby Red from Richard Livingstone, Kirtlevale, Gretna.This fresh heifer by Riverdane Artist Red, bred from a VG dam, found a new home in Annan with Messrs Henderson, East Bowhill.

Matching that price was the cow, Witherslack Gras Ivory from Wayne Inman from Grange Over Sands. His Holstein, a daughter of MR Moviestar Mardi Gras, sold giving 46kg to Messrs Forsyth, Isle Farm, Whithorn.

The Wreaywood herd sold 22 Holstein cows and heifers to average almost £1900 with a top of £2200 paid for the second calver, Wreaywood Copper Sietskie. A daughter of Glamour Boghill Cooper, she sold to Messrs Dixon, Beech House, Hayton, Aspatria, Wigton.

The dispersal of the Kaberfold Holstein herd from the Dent family, averaged £1283 with a lead price of £2200 paid for the recently calved heifer, Kaberfold Uno Maralin. This Amighetti Numero Uno daughter is backed by Ex92 classified cows and sold up to Sutherland with Messrs Millar-Stuart, Inverbrora.

Gregor Colquhoun, Laurencekirk, sold the lead priced in-calf Holstein heifer at £1750. She is a daughter of Kingpin and bred from a Penley dam with more than 14,000kgs behind her as a three year old.
