Ram lambs sold to £380 for a Suffolk from J and M Buchanan, Prettsmill and females peaked at £240 for Texels from A Smith, Allanview.

Averages fell on the year at United Auctions' sale of 5743 North Country Cheviot gimmers and ewes, where gimmers and ewes levelled at £149.66 (-£48.84 on the year) and £101.27 (-£6.01) respectively.

Gimmers led the proceedings at £310 for Blairbuie, whilst ewes peaked at £210 for Armadale, Thurso.

On Monday, 2162 ewe lambs went under the hammer at Hawes Farmers Auction Mart, where trade topped at £132 for Mules from J and G Huck, to cash in at £82.52.

Cheviot Mules sold to £130 for JS and D Cloughton and Son, to cash in at £102.56, whilst Texels realised £120 for JE Thorpe to level at £116.50.

For the third consecutive year a Texel from Bryden Nicolson, The Knock, topped C and D Auction Marts' ram fair when selling his best for £1400

A joint top price of £1200 was paid among the cross breds for Beltex crosses, for the champion, from Messrs Ward, Whitstonehill, and Messrs Halliday, Linnhead.

Shearlings from Guardsmill, led the Suffolk trade at £1300, whilst lambs peaked at £100 from Burgh Head.

Bluefaced Leicester shearlings achieved £750 from S Mabon, Howden, Jedburgh, whilst lambs sold to £1200 for TJ Hall and Son, Horlsey Hill Cottage, Hawick.
