Lowther females hit the top spot in the Beef Shorthorn ring selling to a top of 11,000gns and 10,000gns at the first sale day of Stirling Bull Sales.

Just six bulls sold averaged £4600 (+£190 for one less on the year), whilst 46 females cashed in at £3261.00 (-£282.75 for six fewer).

Sale leader, Lowther Crocus from Charles Lowther, Askham Hall, Askham, is a daughter of Glenisla Lochan Dubh, out of the Blelack Rupert daughter, Lowther Crocus. This maiden heifer was chapped down to Messrs Evans and Price of the Lleynywel herd, Llanilar, Aberystwyth.

The same home took 10,000gns for the pre-sale female champion, Lowther Lily, which sold to Mary Cormack, Tambour Manor, Hoath, Canterbury. This March 2020 born heifer is by Lowther Konan and out of Lowther Lily, which goes back to LS Eagle.

Among the bulls it was the reserve male champion, Dunsyre Phineas, that secured the top price of 7200gns for David Leggat, Leggat Farming Partnership, Saddlebank, Logiealmond, Perth. He caught the eye of James Innes, Dunscroft, Huntly. This April 2020 born bull is a son of Dunsyre Lord Nelson and out of Dunsyre Meadowstreet 36th.
