A home-bred North of England Mule wedder lamb from Joe Throup, Berwick Intake Farm, stood champion at Addingham and District Sheep Breeders’ Association’s 15th annual charity show and sale, held at Skipton Auction Mart in aid of Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, Oxenhope.

Taking this wedder home at £840 was Greg Foster, Hesketh Bank, Preston.

The sale leader is sired by N6 Smearsett, whilst the dam was bred by Stuart and Debbie Robinson, Horton-in-Ribblesdale.

Another North of England Mule wedder lamb took the reserve honours, this time from the Ellis Bros, of Addingham Moorside. Sired by N1 Ilkley Moor, and out of a home-bred ewe, this boy went under the hammer at £270.

The charity fundraiser formed part of CCM Auction Marts’ fortnightly store lambs sale, where the 3023 lambs sold to average £87.23 having peaked at £129 for Suffolks from Martin Brown, Lofthouse in Nidderdale.

Overall proceeds raised for Manorlands hospice totalled at £4863, almost £1000 more than last year’s sale, with the seasonal showcase having generated £55,000 for Sue Ryder Manorlands over the years.
