Carlisle

All classes sold well at Harrison and Hetherington's weekly store cattle sale, achieving a top price of £1660 for a Limousin steer from Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Dearham, who also led the heifers at £1590.

Among the weaned cattle, bulls topped at £1170 for a Limousin from Messrs Mews, Glendue Farm. Aberdeen-Angus heifers were up to £1050 from Messrs Todhunter, Greyrigg, with bullocks selling to £1130 for a Limousin from Messrs Hall, Nether Horsley.

The weekly sale of 250 calves, achieved a top of £560 for a Limousin bull from Messrs Fish, Crossrigg, whilst heifers realised £440 for a British Blue from Messrs Martin, Tempest Tower.

Stirling UA

Bullocks and heifers averaged 212.89p per kg and 212.42p respectively at United Auctions' weekly sale of store cattle.

A 305kg Charolais cross topped the bullocks at 259p from Corsencon, and to £1440 for a 722kg for a Beef Shorthorn cross from Renton Home Farm.

Among the heifers it was Limousin crosses from from Torrax, that led the proceedings when selling to 261.60p for a 497kg entry and to £1360 for a 560kg beast.

Some 1744 store lambs hit a top of £109 for Suffolk lambs from Drumrack.

On Tuesday, Craig Wilson's sale of 10 dairy cattle and 48 calves and stirks witnessed the whole sale averaging £1830, with a top price of £2120 for a Holstein Friesian heifer from A and M Watt, Meadowbank.

Aberdeen-Angus cross heifers led the stirk trade at £950 for A Dalgleish and Son, Drummullan, with a Shorthorn cross bullock making £750 for JD McMillan and Son, Eskechraggan.

Among the calves trade peaked at £370 for a British Blue cross bull from Jack Craig and Co, Tannockhill, with heifer calves realising £350 for more of the same breed this time from John McGregor, Parkmill.

Bullocks sold to 300p for a pen of 260kg Luing from Cairntack, Belhelvie, and to £1390 for a 612kg Limousin cross from Cleat Work Road, St Ola.

Limousin heifers from Turfhill, Auchtylair, proved in demand when selling to 254.2p, whilst Charolais crosses from Blackhillock, Millbrex, also hit the mark when achieving £1425.

Bulls sold to 201.3p per kg for a 472kg Saler cross from Bankhead, Durris, and to £1120 for a 618kg Charolais cross from Burness, Firth.

Beltex crosses led the 3667 store lambs at £134 for P and EB Robson, Middle Horsleyhope.

Penrith

A small selection of rearing calves and stirks were forward for Penrith and District Farmers' Marts final sale of the year, where trade peaked at £810 for a British Blue bullock from JM and J Fisher, Holmewrangle.

Limousin heifers, topped at £750 from MH Brennand, Park House, whilst young calves attained 430 for another of the same breed, this time a bull from Thackwood Farms.

On Monday, the firm held their fortnightly sale of 34 store cattle, reaching a top of £1275 for a pair of black dairy-bred Limousin heifers from S Allan and Sons, Greenhow.
