Heifers peaked at £1750 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Beattie, Woodfield, Annan.

Weaned cattle witnessed a British Blue bull secure £1660 for Messrs Pattinson, Kinkry Hill.

Heifers sold to £1390 for a Limousin from Messrs Mallinson, The Hill, with more of the same breed topping the bullocks at £1200 for Messrs Ward, Whinstone Hill.

A smaller show of 311 calves were also forward which witnessed a top call of £560 for a Limousin bull calf from Messrs Jackson, Clarks, with heifers hitting £510 for British Blues from Messrs Hetherington, Crookdake House.

On Monday, the firm held their weekly sale of store and breeding sheep, with trade peaking at £142 for a Texel cross hogg with single Beltex lamb from Messrs Norman, The Bow, Great Orton.

Bullocks averaged 243.6p with heifers cashing in at 235.7p having attained £1520 on two occasions, firstly for Limousins from Revoch and for an Aberdeen-Angus from Raheed, and to 352.9p for a 425kg Limousin from Little Creoch.

A Texel gimmer with twin lambs from W Limond, Laigh Baidland, led the sheep trade at £210

A small offering of hoggs peaked at £129 for Texel crosses from T Duffin, Windyedge.

On Tuesday, the firm sold 13 dairy cattle to a top of £2250 for a fresh calved Holstein Friesian heifer from J Bryson and Son, Dykehead.

Also forward were 64 calves and stirks where a British Blue cross bullock stirk led the trade at £1350 for W Kilpatrick and Son, Craigie Mains.

Penrith and District Farmers' Mart held their fortnightly sale where trade peaked at £800 for British Blue bull stirks from Grahamsfield.

Herefords led the bullocks in this section when selling for £600 from Sleetburn, whilst heifers attained £545 for British Blues from Howes.

Calves were also in demand with British Blue bulls making £410 for Blunderfield East, and Limousin heifers peaking at £445 from Beeches.

Huntly

A sharp trade was met at United Auctions' sale of 701 cattle where bullocks and heifers levelled out at 257.3p per kg and 238.5p respectively.

Bullocks sold to 328.6p per kg for Limousins from Woodside Croft, Aberchirder, and to £1770 from Commonty, New Deer.

Heifers from Auchnascraw, Glenlivet, were also in high demand achieving 289.7p for Charolais crosses, and to £1520 for Simmental crosses.

In the young farmers overwintered section Isla Brown, Commonty, New Deer, won the biggest weight gain and profit with a Limousin cross bullock bred at Rippachie, Strathdon, which gained 305kg or 1.74kg per day leaving her a profit of £720 or £4.11 per day.

Isla also won the heifer section with a Charolais cross this time bred at Raws Farm, Dufftown which gained 265kg or 1.51kg per day.
